Lt. BARROW AND THE CO DIED AS UNREPENTED CRIMINALS
In 1994, a criminal gang within our Army, led by Yaya Jammeh took guns and overthrew an elected democratic government.
Few months later (November 11th), a sect within the same criminal gang led by Basiru Barrow, also took guns with the intention of overthrowing the same criminal government they were part of. Sadly, the sect members were brutally killed by their original parent gang members.
25 years later, a commission is set to investigate what happened on the 11th November of 1994, and the death of those involved. Yes, this commission is very important for Gambians to know the whole truth, but we should also be very careful at the same time, if not, we will end up justifying wrongs.
First, was Lt Barrow and the co loyal to our country? The hard and painful truth is, Lt Barrow and the co were never loyal to the country. If Lt Barrow and the co were loyal to the country, they would have never been part of the coup that overthrew our elected democratic government. Secondly, if Lt Barrow and the co were loyal to the country, they would have died in defending our democracy and constitution. But sadly, Lt Barrow and the co were killed because they were not content with the positions offered by their criminal led government. And because of that greed, they too took guns with intentions of setting another criminal government led by Lt Barrow.
To hail or honor Lt Barrow and the co is betraying our democracy and our only living founding fathers of our country. Lt Barrow and the co joined with people who have the intention to killed Sir Dawada Jawara and anyone who can challenge or stop them from carrying their mission.
Very sorry to say this, but Lt Barrow and the co died as unrepented criminals. They were criminals who were killed by other criminals because of greed. So, for this commission to sit and trying justify Lt Barrow and the co is insult to democracy and a waste of taxpayers money.
