I love Matcha 🍵 ✨

So I am always excited when I see a matcha tea set on a menu!

Normally that means a bowl of matcha tea with a traditional Japanese sweet. In this case the sweet was a “Yōkan”, which is made with red bean paste, agar and sugar. Because it’s not too sweet it pairs perfectly with the tea 😋

Such a nice break…

First time to see the Gion Matsuri Parade!!! 🏮🏮🏮

I was not sure what to expect to be honest 😅

And I was a bit surprised how long it was, with the heat and the heaviness of the Floats, they move super slow and stop a lot (great for taking pictures 📸).

I can only imagine how busy this must be on a “normal” year…

Happy I got to see it today ✨🏮✨☺️

The Chigo is the “sacred child” who will be sitting on top of one of the main floats this Sunday and the Gion Matsuri parade 🏮✨🏮

There is so much going on everywhere on the streets of Kyoto right now, I only got to see this by chance cause many smaller happenings are not shared openly. So if you are in Kyoto this weekend make sure to “get lost” a little - it’s totally worth it ☺️

Today is the last day of the floats being build for the big parade on Sunday!

It’s amazing to see them and I cannot wait for them to be carried around Kyoto for the main Gion Matsuri event ✨

With the hot and humid summer here in Japan one of the best ways to cool down is with a delicious ice cream!🍦😋

I do love it when I find some new ice cream flavours and “red perilla” is definitely a new one!!!

Also known as Shiso leaves it’s a really fragrant herb and often used as decoration for serving sashimi.

So how was it? Maybe a little too sweet, but worth trying 😉

Finally made it to Eibun Soba!!!! 🍜

This has been on my list for a long time and it tasted even more delicious than it looks!

Although not 100% Okinawan Soba, as they do have a bit of a Thai twist with their toppings. It was undeniably tasty and worth the wait. If you do go, make sure to come early as there is always a queue and add cilantro/パクチー as a topping!
