Hey, hey, hey, what's happening, people? I'm your host, and I just dropped a brand-spankin'-new episode of my podcast. And let me tell you, it's a good one. I sat down with the fellas from and we got into all sorts of shenanigans.

We talked about their new album, 'Dinosaur', and what they'd do in case the world came to an end. Y'know, the important stuff.

The interview happened right before the last show of their tour with and , backstage at the legendary in Los Angeles. After our chat, my good friend Julien and I headed straight to the show. We planted ourselves front and center and rocked out with the rest of the die-hard fans.

Head on over to my podcast and give it a listen. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and don't forget to use that hashtag thingy: . Alright, that's it from me.

It's time to get deep and talk music with another incredible artist. Today we have the lead vocalist and guitarist of the LA-based indie rock band joining us for a special episode of Hanging On Sunset.

Dear Boy has been making waves in the indie music scene since their formation in 2011, with their dreamy, anthemic sound and influences from post-punk, new wave, and alternative rock. They've released several EPs and one full-length album, earning critical acclaim and a devoted following along the way.

In this episode, Ben takes us on a journey through the band's story, from their early days to their latest release, "Forever Sometimes." We'll dive into the creative process behind their music, the challenges they've faced as a band, and what's next for Dear Boy.

But this conversation went even deeper than just the music. Ben and I explored some philosophical subjects, discussing the meaning of life, the nature of creativity, and the importance of human connection. It was a conversation that went on for nearly 2 hours, and I was blown away by Ben's insights.

Also, quick heads up for all you music lovers out there. Tomorrow night, Tuesday March 21st, at Ben Grey, lead vocalist and guitarist of Dear Boy, will be performing as a solo act. And let me tell you, you won't want to miss it. Not only is Ben a fantastic musician in his own right, but he's also opening for the incredible who we had the pleasure of interviewing on our podcast in our last episode.

So if you're looking for a night of great music, be sure to head over to Genghis Cohen tomorrow night and catch Ben's solo performance and Scout's amazingly raw set. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Now sit back, relax, and get ready for an unforgettable episode of Hanging On Sunset with Ben Grey of Dear Boy.

On a recent evening, we had the pleasure of attending the sold-out concert by at the . Once again, was behind the booking of the concert; they have a track record of organizing exceptional events featuring both up-and-coming artists at venues like Genghis Cohen and Gold Diggers, as well as established acts at the Hollywood Bowl. They proved again that they are the best in town.

As we entered the venue, it was clear that the audience was filled with fans of Hermanos Gutiérrez. Throughout the evening, Hermanos Gutiérrez delivered an impressive performance that captivated the audience. The energy in the room was electric, and it felt like we were witness to the creation of a live soundtrack. Their music, which blends traditional Mexican folk music with modern rock influences, was brought to life in a way that was truly breathtaking.

In honor of all the artists we've crossed paths with this year at concerts or on our podcast, I asked my cat Ziggy to come up with an awardee list.

We will announce the winners in the following categories throughout this week:

Artist of the year: this category recognizes the best artist of the year, according to our favorite feline music critic.

Song of the Year: This category recognizes the best song of the year, as determined with the same biased criteria.

Album of the Year: This category recognizes the best album of the year, based on the quality of the music, lyrics, and overall artistic vision (I hope).

Best New Artist: This category recognizes a musician or group who has released a remarkable debut album or single in 2022.

Next Breakthrough Artist: This category recognizes an artist on the brink of gaining widespread recognition and popularity. Let's see if Ziggy is as good as Zoltar.

Best Music Video: This category recognizes the best music video of the year, based on creativity and cinematography.

Best Concert Performance: This category recognizes the best performance of the year according to the Hanging On Sunset team covering the LA scene.

Best Hanging On Sunset TV session: This award goes to our favorite live session from our studios at HK Corp.

But despite his authoritarian nature, Ziggy wanted our readers and listeners to have a say. The majesty Ziggy lets you choose for:

Best Podcast Episode: This award goes to your favorite episode of this year.

Vote for your favorite episode in the poll on the website. Your reasons for voting are yours. There's a good chance one of the guests is your favorite singer or your cousin. Who cares? Choose wisely or don't, the poll closes at midnight on Friday, December 16th. The winner will be announced with the last batch of awardees, including the most prized one, The Artist Of The Year 2022.

After my interview with Julia Laws, aka , I got the opportunity to see her live at Genghis Cohen.

Before the show, I met a guy in the room. As he came by himself too, we began chatting. Ronboy wasn't on his radar as he came to see another performer. I told him to stay for Ronboy because he was in for a real treat.

During "Your Way", the very first song of the set, I could see him shed a tear. I spoke with him again after the show, and he told me that he had forgotten that he had come to watch the other performer. It's exactly what you can expect from Ronboy.

Julia and her band (Sam Stewart on guitar and on drums) played an emotional and raw set that expanded my experience of her debut album. If you get a chance, go see Ronboy live.

Skullcrusher played a concert in Los Angeles on October 17th to support their new album, "Quiet The Room". I've been sitting on those pictures for a long time now but now I have some free time to get through it. Taking place at Cemetery in the Masonic Lodge, there was no better setting than this gloomy place for Hellen Ballentine's eerie and haunting music.

When we arrived at the show, I recognized a familiar face at Will Call. I ran into a colleague of mine who works at the school where I teach music. We were as surprised as she was. I wasn't expecting to see her at a cemetery concert. In fact, she explained to me she used to have Hellen as a student in New York in her second grade class. That's a weird coincidence. Hellen was already artsy at this age, she said. Bringing a drawing of Hellen's from when she was 7, she provided evidence for her claim. Cute emoji.
