✨ANNOUNCEMENT✨

I love children’s literature. The amount of picture books that I own, even before becoming a mom, is borderline comical. However, I have found many themes in children’s literature address our similarities, but sometimes do not recognize how differences can be beautiful.

A few years ago I decided that I wanted to create a story where the characters learn how differences can be viewed as a strength. That is where the idea for the story, The Shades of Friendship, came from. I am so proud to announce that the vision I had is now ready to be shared with others.

This story is close to my heart as it stems from my real-life experience with friendship. My first-ever friends are girls of color. They both taught me about the vibrant colors of diversity and helped me learn over the years that we shouldn’t disregard color, but celebrate it.

Many thanks to Jasmine and Josclyn for encouraging me to write about our friendship, Chris Critelli for his incredible 90s-inspired illustrations, and everyone that I shared this idea with that joined in my excitement.
