European regulators say they are willing to accept the h**p industry’s joint application efforts to demonstrate CBD safety in foods – but they have some words of caution about what collaborations will be acceptable.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has indicated to H**p Industry Daily that it will review applications that result from efforts by two European industry associations aiming to clear the EU bar for approving the sale of over-the-counter CBD products.

The collaboration efforts of European h**p groups come as CBD manufacturers have been grappling with the inclusion of cannabinoids under the EU Novel Food Catalogue.

CBD’s novel-food designation, announced in January of 2019, means that many over-the-counter cannabidiol products must first win approval from the bloc’s authorities before they can be marketed.

The FDA reminds CBD companies that making claims not supported by clinical trial evidence is a strict violation of the FDA rules and regulations. ⤵️

“The Food and Drug Administration has issued warnings to two companies over their claims that CBD could treat opioid addiction or serve as alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs. The letters were sent to Washington’s BIOTA Biosciences LLC and New Hampshire’s Homero Corp which does business as Natures CBD Oil Distribution.
FDA Principal Deputy Commissioner Amy Abernethy said the agency would crack down on companies claiming CBD is a treatment for opioid addiction and that the cannabinoid “has not been shown to treat opioid addiction.”

Indeed, a more recent survey looking at consumer attitudes and behavior during Covid-19's enforced "social distancing" revealed that people have been turning to cannabis and CBD as a way to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. Specifically, among the general population, 10% are using cannabis, and 5% are using CBD.

Just last week, researchers warned of a rise of anxiety and "coping responses" during the pandemic, and called for better monitoring of mental health as part of the global response to the pandemic.”

Los Angeles International Airport, better known as LAX, has announced that it will permit travelers to bring small amounts of legal ma*****na through security in their carry-on bags.
The passing of this proposition means that as of of January 1, 2018, it is legal in California "for individuals 21 years of age or older to possess up to 28.5 grams of ma*****na and 8 grams of concentrated ma*****na for personal consumption."
LAX is honoring the same regulations in the airport, allowing travelers over the age of 21 to enter the airport and pass through security with the permitted amounts of ma*****na.

If you can’t get a COA from the manufacturer’s website, customer service, or the product label, that’s not good. A quality CBD company will always get their products lab tested. After all, a COA is as much for the customer as it is for the company to double-check the quality of their work for quality assurance purposes.

Agriculture officials in Florida are now tracking and regulating CBD and h**p products, a change prompted by a state law that took effect Jan. 1.

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services oversee products containing h**p and CBD ingredients that are consumed by humans and animals.

In a recent announcement:
Dollar General stayed they will begin rolling out CBD products in select stores.

The company said 20 different types of CBD products will be sold in 1,100 stores in Tennessee and Kentucky. By 2020, availability of the products will expand to Dollar General stores in Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Vermont.
