I help women navigate change and create a lively, satisfying, purposeful & beautiful Second Half of Life that answers the question, "What matters most to me?"

To everything, there is a season, a time, & a purpose.

We have two breasts.

So, here's a well-seasoned reminder that on the 2nd of the month, we take 2 minutes and focus our attention on our 2 breasts.

It's just another way we practice saying YES to Life itself.

Happy 8th birthday to our smart & sassy & sweet Kaylee Louise!

She loves 2nd grade, singing, Hawaiian rolls, Disney movies, making jewelry, and being chased.

Being a Gigi to 6 littles--ranging from 1 month to 8 years-- is one of the things I'm expressing radical gratitude for, right here, right now.

What is filling you with radical gratitude this week?

Hey, if you chose one, lemme ask, what are you harvesting from your WOTY (Word of the Year) intentions for 2024?

My WOTY this year has been TRUST, so I'm in the midst of journaling about some of the ways I'm trusting myself more (instead of prolonged bouts of second guessing myself) + the ways I've been practicing trusting that others are doing the best that they can in that moment--both areas of intentional growth that emerged about this time last year--hence the rationale for my WOTY choice in early 2024.

In this season of Taking Stock, I'm learning from Sister Oak how to "celebrate my acorns"--including what my WOTY practices have seeded into my life.

It's been big for me to also note the times when my WOTY practice pretty much sucked--not as fodder for more self-judgment but simply as a way to gather helpful information.

Didn't go great this year? Hmmm, time to consider what other supports I can put in place next year to hedge my intentions.

Look, it's not about Winning a WOTY award for doing it perfectly; instead, it's about keeping it real in the midst of all the beautiful, messy, & awkward as life unfolds, one day at a time.

Interested in how to go about selecting a WOTY for 2025? Curious about what kind of practical supports you can put in place to support your WOTY practice for 2025?

Happy Thanksgiving 2024, All!

May your hearts be filled with gratitude & moments of joy, right here, right now.

And if you need it, let this be your reminder to take a deep breath, whisper to yourself--"I am clear, kind, and curious"--and then, carry on.

It's what we well-seasoned women do.

A spoonful of well-seasoned encouragment from this week's newsletter:

"Imagine how differently the holidays might feel if you:

Released self-criticism when something didn’t go as planned.

Got curious about why a particular tradition feels more draining than fulfilling.

Looked for patterns in what brings you joy versus what depletes you."

This magnifienct Lady in Purple is turning 84 tomorrow & we couldn't be more happy to celebrate her!

This past year, Mom has traveled to attend family weddings & to spend plenty of time in her beloved North Myrtle Beach. She continues to lead Children's Church & to head up the costumes & props department for both the Fall & Spring SMCA drama events.

She loves sewing projects, eating breakfast out with family & girlfriends, and forging relationships with her great grandchildren (as seen in this photo with my grands, Amelia & Teddy)

If you see her out & about, don't hesitate to give her a birthday greeting, okay?

'Cause celebrating timely milestones is just what we do around here.

I stumbled on this suggested morning mirror greeting for us, shining forth on the wall of Flour Donuts & Bakery in Leonardtown, recently.

Love it because it's affirming. Love it because it's quirky. Love it because it's TRUE--for every single dang one of us.

Learning to appreciate our strength, beauty, moxie, and experience is something we mid-life women + beyond are wired for.

So grateful to be able to explore it all with you, Gorgeous Ones.

I'm just a girl. Standing in this moment. Grateful for whence I've come.

Here in my post-menopausal life, I'm understanding more deeply the power & goodness of my inner nesting doll.

I carry ALL of my 5-year old, 15-year old, 25 & 35 & 45 & 55 year-old selves within. And I can access all that collected history, wisdom, experience, and goodness righ here, right now.

In this season of radical gratitude, let's not forget to thank all the versions of ourselves that have gotten us to this moment.

"This place where you are right now God circled on a map for you."--Hafez

" I had a little tea party
This afternoon at three.
‘Twas very small—
Three guests in all—
Just I, myself and me.

Myself ate all the sandwiches,
While I drank up the tea;
‘Twas also I who ate the pie
And passed the cake to me."
--"Three Guests," Jessica Nelson North

Whether you're able to spend quality time with others or enjoy the gift of some solo-refreshment, may your weekend be chock full of small yet meaningful moments of beauty & goodness.

In this week's newsletter, we explored some ideas for approaching the holiday season in a way that feels more aligned with what matters most to us--and doesn't leave us (and our loved ones) feeling frazzled, frustrated, and/or depleted.

'Cause wouldn't it be nice to actuall come out on the other side of the holidays feeling a little more connected, calm, merry, and bright, right?

We've got this.

A snippet from today's Well-Seasoned Woman's newsletter:

"Practicing getting clearer, being kinder, and staying curious are essential components of a well-seasoned holiday approach.

They help us slow down, take stock, and create a holiday season that aligns with what truly matters to us—one that leaves us chock full of goodness. & connection."

Creating & maintaining relationships with those that cross our paths, again and again, is one of the "harvests" I'm most grateful for, here in this season of my life.

I taught both of these young women when they were in high school--and they were both favorites of mine!

Each of them are now smart, kind women who are changing their communities for the better. They are wives, moms, sisters, advocates, and women of faith.

I might have taught them once, but they continue to teach me something every time we interact--including my nephew's recent wedding where we hugged & chatted & stopped to pose for this photo.

It's a gratitude thing, filled up, pressed down, and overflowing.

Taking the time this weekend to get CLEAR on what matters most to me about each of the holidays fast approaching in the next couple of months.

Why? I've learned that when I take the time to get CLEAR, prioritize being KIND, and practice ongoing CURIOSITY, everything shifts and I don't feel like I'm chasing my own tail (or, as in this photo, the tail of Princess Cordelia the cat).

Happy Friday, All!

Rory & I are popping in to remind you to schedule at least a little of your weekend lounging around with someone you love, okay?

And, if you're wearing anything with an animal print while doing so, please give yourself an extra gold star.

14/11/2024

Okay, look, each of us navigates ch-ch-ch-change in our own way & at our own pace.

The shift from the active, upward, outward energies of Spring/Summer into the more passive energies of Winter can be a THING.

NOTE: Maybe you are one of those who is seemingly unruffled throughout the shift into Spring & the changeover from Daylight Savings into RegularTime.

If so, well, good on you.

But listen, if you've been feeling frazzled & fractious & downright peevish from ALL the change going on, then just know that you are not alone & that you are completely and totally normal.

Just ask Amelia & Teddy, two of my grands, who, in the moment this photo was taken, are the absolute embodiment fractious & frazzled peevishness.

But also: 90 seconds after this picture, all was well.

And, the same is true for us. The transition won't last.

This too shall pass.

Hang in there & just be with whatever is coming up for you.

Something new is awaiting us all on the other side.
