I honestly think that digital media is the future, even more-so than the mainstream side of things. (Hollywood productions etc)

When I was starting out with my editing career I wish I would have known these things...

For most people who have a well-established presence in the media industry, they'll tell you the following...

1️⃣It starts with doing.

It starts with getting your portfolio going. If you haven't got a portfolio, reach out to people on Instagram and offer to make them a video for free.

2️⃣Learn from others that are ahead of you

Learn, watch what successful people have done. YouTube is an amazing tool and I've learned more from using it than probably anything else.

3️⃣Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming.

Keep going. Keep improving. Don't stop working hard when you've got a client or two. Keep updating that portfolio, the website.

4️⃣Learn new scarce skills. 🤹

Learn how to make a good website maybe, learn some SEO.
Learn marketing, reach out to people and improve your marketing abilities. Keep learning skills and they'll benefit you 10 fold in your career.

Career speed boosts are a thing!👔💨

Here's why...

Most of my learning in my career has come from being in situations where I NEED to perform.

I remember having a client ask me if I would be able to do an After Effects animation video for them...

I said yes, of course!😰

I'd never completed a full project in After Effects before, but I spent the next few days just consuming tutorial after tutorial for hours and learning so much more than I had in months of trying to learn something without

PRESSURE!

So much learning happens when we say YES, even when we aren't sure ourselves!🤓
