About Us

Hidden Mirrors, created and hosted by Anam Zaidi and with a panel of guests from different walks of life, tackles real-life problems bi-weekly. Choosing topics that normally do not see the light of day, this podcast focuses on difficult discussions and controversial debates that currently trend within the Western Muslim community. Using an opinion style panel debate format, each episode includes the introduction to the topic, followed by panel engaging in a discussion pertaining to the subject, trying to reach a resolution, and then concludes with the closing remarks: "This is Hidden Mirrors, changing narrtives one topic at a time."

Topics can range from advice on mosque etiquette, beauty standards, shadeism, ageism, aunty crisis, overcoming stereotypes and breaking cultural norms. Anam and the panelists provide clear insight on the chosen topics based on a combination of research, personal experiences and subject matter experts in the form of survivors, educators, and relatable community members. She confidently demonstrates her own strong opinions while adeptly weaving the different narratives of the chosen topic through the course of the show. The goal is to unveil hidden ideologies within the Muslim community, to allow for open and honest discussion, and provide listeners with new perspective.
