EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

The late Dinah Tungo Kipkemei (Kambala) was born in 1947 in Torongo, Lembus Mosop Ward (Koibatek). She was the fifth born child of the late Mzee Jonah Kimosbei Sawe and the late Eunice Kabon Sawe.
Tungo was sister to Mrs. Alice Tungo Ngetuny, the late Alexander Sawe (former PS), George Sawe, the late Ruth Sawe, the late Mrs. Liza Barmotio, the late Judy Sawe and Jane Sawe.
She started her education in Torongo Primary School in 1960. She also attended several trainings at Baringo District Development Institute (presently known as Kenya School of Government)

FAMILY LIFE
Mama Dinah Tungo got married to late Japheth Cherono Kipkemei (Kambala) in 1968. They were blessed with several children namely: Stephen Cherono, Nelly Cheruiyot (NCPB Eldama Ravine), Lily Kebut (Kamwen Primary), the late Rosemary Kabaren, Laban Cherono (Kapropita Primary), Erick Kiptoo Kemei (KRA), Musa Kemei (Kirandich Water Company) and Samson Kemei (Buflock).
She was also mother in law to the late Philista, the late Noach Cheruiyot, Wilson Kebut, Johana Kabaren, Josephine Cherono, Winnie Siginwo, Keziah and Jackline.
Tungo was sister in law to the late Peter Kiplagat Kimurgong, Salina Cheserem, Kabon Chebor and the late William Chepkeitany Kipkemei.
Tungo was grandmother to Antonio (Tony), Sharon, Derrick, Dennis Kiptui, the late Victor, the late Belinda, Abigail, Marcella, Kipsemon, Allan, Jelagat, Kipngetich, Emmanuel, Edith Jeptepkeny, Paul Delarue, Kigen, Shevone Jepkorir, Barsanai, Kiprono, Hope Jemutai, Maurine, Kimutai, Jelagat, Emmanuela Jepchumba, Jepkoech, Caren, Lillian, Reuben Kibet, Sila, Jelagat, Gladys, Faith Jemwetich, Kevin Kipyegon.

SPIRITUAL LIFE
Mrs. Dinah Kipkemei believed in Jesus Christ as her LORD and SAVIOUR and was baptized by Rev. Joshua Nachuru. She was an active member at AIC Kapsoo Church. In AIC Kapsoo, she was a choir member whose delight was to see the choir accomplish its mission, she was a member of Ushirika wa Wake Wakristo, church 'auctioneer' and a vice chairlady in the women conference.
The late Mrs. Kipkemei was a servant leader, jovial, humble, patient, compassionate and a mentor to many. She was welcoming and generous.
WORKING LIFE
Tungo was an accomplished farmer who was involved in agribusiness. Her dedication to sustainable farming practices attracted the attention of Ministry of Agriculture officials and NGOs like Focal Area who chose her model farm for demonstration which benefitted the community immensely.
She was involved in horticulture (including growing mangoes, avocado, oranges, bananas), dairy farming, poultry keeping and production of seedlings for commercial and subsistence purposes. Tungo pioneered production of cassava at commercial scale and would supply to Kapropita Girls High School in the 1980s. Her footprints of agriculture and environmental conservation clearly stand out.
Tungo would experiment with various crops and animal breeds to gauge viability. She nurtured them with amazing results!
He hard-work earned her recognition and awards from Agriculture stakeholders. She participated in several bench marking tours (Busia, Meru, Kiambu) which enabled her sharpen her skills.
On matters farming, she was "Professor" of Applied Agriculture.

HEALTH
Mama Dinah Tungo enjoyed good health for most of her life. However she was diagnosed with diabetes in 2013. She managed the condition with diet until 2021 when her blood sugars became unstable and the doctor put her on medication. She was taken to specialist doctors in Nakuru, Eldoret and Kabarnet to address complications associated with the condition.
Over time, Mama suffered impaired mobility and developed diabetic wounds. The medical condition required the constant attention of care-giver and nursing care of the wound. She also required frequent physiotherapy sessions to improve her mobility.
Mama was admitted to Baringo County Referral Hospital twice in September for debridement of diabetic wound. She was due for review on Wednesday, 27th September 2023.
During routine checks on Saturday night 23rd September, 2023, the sugar level was observed to have spiked. Mama was taken to hospital for observation and was discharged on Sunday.
She developed laboured breathing on Tuesday afternoon of 26th September and was immediately referred to hospital for attention. Unfortunately, she succumbed.

th Sub location, Marigat Ward in Baringo County. He was the 4 born son of the late
Chemase Cheboswony and Kimoi Chemase. He spent part of his early life taking
care of his father's flock. In 1964, he was initiated into the Korongoro ageset. Then
he joined Endao primary school in 1968 at the age of 16 .
He was brother to the late Peter, Samuel, Kipsoi, George, Simon, Raymond and the
late Elijah Chemase.
He was son in law to the late Sacho Cheptoo & the late Kobilo Cheptoo and Remun
Kertich and Kobilo Kertich. Brother in law to Tarkok Kasitet, Toyoi and Kimoi
Kipkech, the late Kimoi and Kobilo Kipsoi, Tarkok Kabutiei, Kobilo Miningecher,
Kimoi Kandagor and Tarkok Kipkemei.
