Come aboard as I follow a rookie’s experience of the National Walleye Tour for four days at one of the biggest walleye stops in America, Lake Sakakawea. We all have to start somewhere, and this is a “Tour Level Gold” quality production on a shoestring budget and everyone is a rookie here! See how Tom and other rookies fair against the biggest names on the walleye circuit. You’re going to love it! The after party at Garrison Bay took place a few days after the National Walleye Tour. Could we find the big winning walleyes released days before? Watch and learn as my brother and I ventured into the turbulent waters on a windy day to find out. We also came across a friendly and familiar face, Bloemendaal Guide Service! You’re going to love it! Bloemendaal Guide Service Mike Milkey

Livestream fishing with my friends/acquaintances Tom Boley and Mitch Biks today on their livestream and they gave a little plug to watch my YouTube videos if you haven't seen them yet. Pretty fun to have connected with those guys for the last few years. Always good to have great company. Go to about 32 minutes and see some of our back-and-forth. The first of two shout outs at 1:04:41. Pretty nice of them to say and think my stuff is worth a hill of beans. Ha, ha! Direct links to a few spots are in the comments. Their stream was 2 1/2 hours long and Tom caught about 7 nice fish. One right out of the gate.

With the National Walleye Tour in town just days away, I wanted to see if a few hogs could be found in a place few if any of the field would ever consider stopping. The forecast for wind this day was 30+ mph and the heat was slated at 100 for a high. This unlikely spot was definitely one of the few places I’d even be able to consider with my tin can. Curious where I caught the big one and what color it was used? Watch and learn. You’re going to love it!

With the North Dakota Governor’s Walleye Cup looming just days away, I had to see what was west of Garrison Bay today. Douglas Bay is not always accessible to my smaller craft when the wind is blowing out of the west over 15 mph. The slight breeze afforded me the opportunity to venture out and try my luck. Turns out, a little bit of perseverance and God’s divine intervention granted me my PB walleye on a jigging rap. Curious what color it was? Watch and learn. You’re going to love it!

Rande from Go Midwest Fishing and myself did a big little fish-camp. Looking forward to getting to the edit on this adventure in search of zander and becoming one of less than 1% of the North American fishing community to land one in my boat. (For the record, we actually got three.)

Winds kept us in the bay later in the day, but so did the smallies. It was fun to find a nice 23-inch walleye for the kicker to the fish fry, too. We don’t always keep walleye over 22-inches, but when you work as hard as my buddy, Joel, and I did this day, you do. You’re going to love it!

Craig helped me land a big one out there! The spring bite seems to have come and gone and the temps never really made it past 60 degrees for both air and water frequently enough to make the fish stay shallow. They were fickle and tough to find in the usual haunts of Deepwater Bay. This one was saved by a long trip in the boat to Van Hook. You’re going to love it! Craig Kramber Six Pack Custom Cranks

Brett Bloemendaal is a book author. Giving a fishing trip to top student readers at the elementary school is wonderful tradition he started three years ago. Grant, Caleb, and Oliver are amazing students who earned the privilege to enjoy some fishing on Brett’s boat this year. Our trip was cut short from a thunderstorm, but it was a blast nonetheless. Keep those books open and adventures spilling out always! This memory has been preserved for these kids to look back on. You are welcome to come along for the ride. The early morning hours brought on the most spectacular Northern Light show I’ve ever witnessed. Would it affect the post spawn bite on the big lake? That was what I was trying to find out. Follow me as I journey to Deepwater Bay on Lake Sakakawea to see what the fishes are up to the day of a major solar flare party.

The first spring-shallow-bite-open-water trip in the boat was a success! In hindsight, everyone we know who was out all day on Lake Sakakawea got skunked, but Bruce drove great distances to hop in my boat and we had to have at least some action for that effort. We also got to help a buddy, Brett Bloemendaal, find some active fish to add to his own video production. You’re going to love it! Bloemendaal Guide Service Brett Bloemendaal
