The French Embassy in Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands is pleased to announce that Marie-Noëlle KALTACK, Executive Radio Producer at the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation (SRTV - VBTC), has accepted the invitation of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and will represent Vanuatu’s media at the 19th Summit of La Francophonie - Villers-Cotterêts 2024, which will be held in Paris, France, on October 4th and 5th, 2024.

This event will bring together delegations from around the world to discuss issues related to the French language and Francophone culture, with a particular focus on the role of the French language in innovation and entrepreneurship, as the theme of this summit is "Creating, Innovating, and Undertaking in French."

Ms. Kaltack will have the opportunity to attend discussions and conferences on the future of the French language around the world and to share insights about Francophonie in Vanuatu.

Final day of understanding and Communicating about Trafficking in persons workshop’. The participants delved into the importance of understanding and effectively communicating about Trafficking in Persons, with a focus on the role of communication in combating human trafficking. The sessions also covered topics such as understanding the experiences of trafficking survivors, ethical reporting on TIP cases, and strategies to reduce the vulnerability of aspiring fishers to trafficking.

Today, the Media Association of Vanuatu is part of t the Vanuatu Association of Non-Government Organisations (VANGO) consultation at the Grand Hôtel.

This joint effort is a part of the 'Building Partnerships and strengthening the work of the CSO' initiative, demonstrating the strength of unity in driving the shared objectives of CSO’s. and NGO’s in Vanuatu.

The NGO Desk and VANGO are coming together in this cooperative endeavor, highlighting the potential of collective action in advancing the common aspirations of CSO’s and NGO’s.

The Pacific People Advancing Change (PPAC) program has provided mentoring support to the Média Association Vanuatu (MAV) earlier this week as one of its grantees.

The PPAC-funded project has the objective of educating MAV members about the significance of media ethics. It will organize workshops in Port Vila and Santo to provide a refresher on the MAV code of ethics to its members.

MAV's proposal has been approved, resulting in the first funded project with a total exceeding 1 million.

PPAC has provided MAV with valuable capacity building, which has been greatly appreciated by the organization. This training has been a crucial part of the first project with MAV and has helped to strengthen the skills and abilities of its members.

The PPAC program aims to enhance advocacy capacity among Pacific Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) involved in human rights issues and supports specific campaigns through advocacy training, mentoring, small grants, and regional dialogue.
