03 Narco Smugglers Arrested in Udhampur; Recovered contraband He**in: Udhampur Police

A Police team from Police Station Rehambal led by its SHO Insp. Pushpinder Singh during routine checking at Phalata, NHW recovered 10 grams of He**in like contraband substance from a vehicle (zen) bearing Registeration No JK01J-8888, three narco smugglers (driver alongwith two more) have been arrested.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sehran Nazir S/O Nazir Ahmed R/O Aali Kaldal Srinagar (driver), Mudasir Firoz S/O Late. Sh. Firoz Ahmed R/O Srinagar and Saqib Latif Daga S/O Latief Ahmed Daga R/O Mehraj Ganj, Srinagar.

In this connection, A case FIR No. 10/2024 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Rehambal and the investigation is going on to unearth the backward and forward linkages.

A Police team from Police Station Rehambal led by SHO Pushpinder Singh during routine checking at Rehambal Zero Morh recovered 72 bottles of illicit liquor (250ml) from a vehicle (Nano car) bearing Registration no. JK02AR 9220, one bootlegger has been arrested.

The arrested person (driver) has been identified as Munish Kumar S/O Chuni Lal R/O Dhanori, Udhampur.

In this connection, A case FIR No. 320/2023 under sections 48 (a) Excise Act stands registered in Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is underway.

National Lok Adalat: 2292 cases settled, Rs 2 cr realised as settlement amount

UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 9: In Compliance to the directions of Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalat was held today in the District Court complex Udhampur under the Chairmanship of Mr. Haq Nawaz Zargar (Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur) and supervision of Mr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Udhampur.

The National Lok Adalat took up different kind of cases through 8 Benches. Bench No. 1 comprised of Mr. Haq Nawaz Zargar, Pr. A total of 2872 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 2292 were settled, realizing a settlement amount of Rs. 20991807/-.

Bench No. 8 headed by Assistant Labour Commissioner Udhampur Mr. Pradyot Gupta, disposed of 3 cases awarding Rs.30.10 Lakh and Rs. 8,50,000 to the dependents of deceased Gh. Rasool who had died in a road accident during the course of employment.

A Police team from Police Station Udhampur led by its SHO Inspector Raghubir Choudhary during routine checking recovered 16.3 Kg Poppy straw like substance from a Punjab bound truck bearing Registeration No PB11DC5309 at Jakhani.one interstate narco smuggler has been arrested.
The arrested person (driver) was identified as Dilshad Ali S/O Iftkar Ali R/O Malerkotla, Punjab.

In this connection, A case FIR No. 592/2023 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case has been taken up.

BLIND MURDER WORKED OUT WITHIN 48 HOURS IN UDHAMPUR

On 23-10-2023 an information received through reliable source at Police Station Basantgarh that, One Puran Chand age 42 years S/O Dina Nath caste Masha R/O Balota Upperla tehsil Basantgarh has been murdered by some unknown person/persons and dead body lying at Lakhera Nallah Balota Upperla.On this information a case FIR No. 33/2023 U/S 302 IPC got registered and investigation taken up by Insp Sohan Singh Bandral SHO PS Basantgarh under the supervision of Vishal Manhas SDPO Ramnagar and Anwaar Ul Haq AddlSP Udhampur. During investigation scene of crime was examined with the help of Forensic experts and crime photographers. Dead body of deceased Puran Chand taken into custody. After Post-mortem and other medico legal formalities dead body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
During the course of further investigation, on the basis of human and technical inputs one suspect Bikram Kumar S/o Jagdish Chand R/o Basantgarh was rounded up. On sustained questioning said Bikram kumar confessed his involvement in murder of deceased Puran Chand S/o Dina Nath R/o Balota Upperla during the intervening night of 22/23-10-2023 at Balota Upperla. Accused further disclosed that he has out of marriage relationship with the wife of diseased and on 22-10-2023 late evening he went to the residence of deceased Puran Chand, had scuffle with him and with criminal intention cut the throat of deceased. After that dumped the dead body in nearby Lakhera Nallah. Said accused arrested immediately and on his further disclosure weapon of offence recovered from his residence in presence of EMIC Basantgarh. Further investigation is going on.
Pertinently this murder case has beenworked out within 48 hours of its commission by Police in Udhampur.

3rd District Karate Championship 2023-24 kicks off in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 07: The 3rd District Level Karate Championship 2023-24, catering to boys and girls in the sub-junior, cadet, junior, and senior categories, commenced today here in Riwayat Hall. The event was organized by the Karate Association District Udhampur.

Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, graced the event as the chief guest. More than 500 enthusiastic participants showcased their skills.

In her address, the chief guest praised the organizers for successfully hosting the championship, emphasizing its role in providing a platform for young talents within the district and promoting a healthy sports culture in society. District Advisory Committee reviews implementation of PC & PNDT Act in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER-05:- Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai on Thursday presided over the District Advisory Committee meeting to assess the implementation of the PC & PNDT Act and the Clinical Establishment, Registration & Regulation Act, 2010.

The meeting took place in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, Udhampur, and was attended by several key officials including Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. Vinod Kumar; Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anil Manhas and other committee members.

The meeting delved into numerous critical issues, encompassing the registration and renewal of ultrasound center certificates, enforcement of the Preconception and Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques Act, Labs, and Clinics, as well as the associated offenses and penalties. Discussions also revolved around the Clinical Establishment Act, provisions for registration, inspection procedures, and mechanisms for monitoring and implementing the PC & PNDT Act, IEC activities etc.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that responsible authorities should conduct frequent inspections of ultrasound clinics, especially those located in remote areas, to ensure compliance with central Act regulations. Strict action should be taken against any defaulters found.

Additionally, proper record-keeping of antenatal cases at all ultrasound centers in the district was emphasized. The Deputy Commissioner asked for close check on illegal prenatal s*x selection practices and called for advocacy and communication efforts to promote gender equality.

The committee members discussed ways to enhance Act implementation, such as organizing awareness programs in collaboration with NGOs and conducting workshops for ground-level staff at ultrasound clinics to educate them about the Act's provisions.

The CMO was instructed to grant provisional registration to clinical establishments upon fulfilling necessary formalities. Furthermore, the CMO was tasked with conducting inspections of both registered and unregistered clinical establishments, and imposing fines and penalties on any defaulters as outlined in the Clinical Establishment Act.

VIJAYPUR, October 05, 2023: - Apni Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari alongwith senior leadership Thursday participated in Antim Ardas organized at Vijaypur in Samba District on the tenth day of Shri Balwant Singh Ji, father of Provincial President, Jammu, S. Manjit Singh.
Altaf Bukhari was accompanied by Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir and other leaders of Apni Party to Vijaypur where they participated in the prayers which were organised at the Gurdwara for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Shri Balwant Singh Ji.

Commissioner, JMC gave press brief regarding installation of street lights in JMC limits
It is for the information of all concerned that the job of installation and commissioning is going on as per the tripartite agreement among Power Development Department, EESL and Housing & Urban Development Department, in which all the 75 wards within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation are being provided with street lights under two phases.
As per the agreement PDD has to provide the whole infrastructure viz. providing of poles, phase wire and allied accessories meant for the installation of these street lights and EESL has to provide street lights of different wattages as per the requirement of the area and JMC has to supervise and make the payment for the maintenance of these street lights as per the agreement
Till date installation of 61300 street lights has been completed under phase-I and the work of installation of street lights under phase-II is in progress. Out of 35130 street lights in phase-II, about 31500 lights have been installed. As per the tripartite agreement, the ESSL has to provide the street lights with necessary accessories and has to maintain these lights for 07 years.
The JMC has to make the payment for the maintenance of street lights as per the agreement and JMC is doing so for the completed 61300 street lights only. The maintenance part is taken by EESL on regular basis and there are 3 ways in which the complaints can be registered with EESL viz. Toll Free No. 1800-180-3580; JK.LED app for J&K only, whereas another app is available on all India level is EESL SAMPARK app.
The individuals can lodge their complaints on these portals and the same are being rectified by EESL on regular basis and a perfect record in this behalf is being maintained by EESL and being periodically checked also. This keeps a thorough check on the maintenance part rendered by EESL

In its continuous war and firm commitments against drug menace, Udhampur Police booked one more notorious Drug Peddler namely Ashwani Sharma S/O Kewal Sharma R/O Jib, Majalta, Udhampur in Preventive detention under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act for his repeatedly involvement in selling and distributing Contraband Narcotics among the populace of Udhampur and its adjoining areas.

On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur Dr. Vinod Kumar-IPS, dossier of Ashwani Sharma was prepared and sent for approval.

Subsequently, the case was duly processed and after obtaining sanction from the competent authority, the said drug peddler has been detained under PIT NDPS Act through orders issued by the competent authority.

The said accused was a threat to the peaceful environment who often tried to involve youth of the area in drug addiction.

People in general have praised the contribution of Udhampur Police against drug peddlers and their associates.

Moreover, Udhampur Police also providing counselling to drug addicts in drug de-addiction centre at DPL Udhampur for their betterment.

Rationalization of Polling Stations: DEO seeks suggestions from representatives of Political Parties

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 26: Saloni Rai, the District Election Officer Udhampur on Tuesday convened a crucial meeting with representatives of Political Parties here in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to seek their suggestions on rationalization of Polling stations.

Deputy District Election Officer, Gurdev Kumar, extended a warm welcome to the political leaders and provided them with an overview of the rationalization of polling stations in the district. He emphasized that the district has a total 626 polling stations, with a proposal for the addition of 28 new polling stations at the strategic locations.

The meeting delved into several key aspects, such as the appointment of booth-level agents by the polling parties, the draft list of polling stations aligned with Assembly constituencies, rationalization of polling stations, and potential changes in the locations of existing polling stations.

The DEO expressed gratitude to all the political representatives and urged them to submit their objections and suggestions in writing within the stipulated timeframe.

Furthermore, DEO Rai directed the Deputy DEO to motivate and enhance the performance of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), emphasizing the need to work efficiently, fairly, and with utmost transparency.
