Algorithms that know how you behave and what you are thinking about, what you will react with. A Democrat or Republican only seeing people with the same views. Every once in a while someone with an opposing opinion will pop up in your feed because the algorithm knows you will react. Does this sound like foolishness? I’m sure it does, the sad part about this is that is exactly what social media is doing to us.

Think of the consequences. Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George Bush, they are really the only presidents we have seen since this technology has reared its ugly head. Never before has our nation been as divided as it is right now, ever. Through all of them it gets worse and worse and our people more set in stone about their positions.

Do I think the problem is Barack Obama or Donald Trump or the behaviors of our people? Sure they have their strengths and weaknesses but I think it’s easy to point the finger at the leader rather then look in the mirror. In the information age you can create whatever reality that you want to portray for people.

I’m not denying being able to see your family and friends is a good thing, and there’s definitely a convenience factor as well but at what price? The destruction of our society as a whole? People talk about Russian collusion but the number one influencer which ironically I’m using to post on right now is right in front of all of our faces.

How many times a day will somebody put their political beliefs and then the sharing of articles back-and-forth with opposing views starts? That’s because everyone has their own truth in the social realm. And if you don’t agree with me I don’t have to read what you do anymore, take yourself off my page.

What about someone mad about racial injustice and all they see on their feed is Black Lives Matter protest and riots? Cops arresting Black people and selected videos to fuel the anger instead of ones that could deescalate. On the flip side someone that is not racist and never done a thing being told they have privilege, owe them, seeing their towns burned down and their businesses destroyed. We talk about gaslighting what the hell is social media doing?

How many times have you been to a website or looked at something and when you return there’s an ad for that product or place right in front of your face? Does that influence you? You might not think so but how many hours are you spending looking at things that influence your decision? We are pawns in the biggest game of chess the world has ever seen. still many people will deny it and that’s the beauty of how they keep it hidden.

Think of our news, are they any different? For everything you see on the news channel there will be an opposing news channel with a completely different take on it. Well I guess we just pick the one that’s right for us correct? I don’t think so, where is the accountability for truth in actual news? Maybe they are doing the same thing to us as we are doing to ourselves? It works and it keeps the money coming in and we the people eat it up.

That Democrat or Republican that you’re disagreeing with right now, black, white, Chinese, Latino, because they are different than you we question our association. Every day labels become more apparent, sides are being taken. People with their views are dead set because of what they see or maybe have people agreeing with them on here that somehow they are completely true with their positions.

Sounds like a bunch of hogwash, trust me I know but be observant of your usage and what you are presented. I have used social media in hopes of finding like-minded people going through the same issues to put families back together. While I will forever believe this is one of the most justified battles out there how can I find myself fighting for families against injustice and let this technology with these severe consequences pass itself on to the children?

If you think it’s bad now wait it’s going to get a lot worse for them. Everybody killing each other, calling each other names, the exclusion, this is my news, my article, it is already here. Will they know what news even is or are they going to live in this false realm of technology where they can create whatever reality they want.?

We spend those valuable young years teaching our children right from wrong so hopefully they can make better choices. Only to allow them to get on social media where the user can create their right and wrong and never know any different.

I sure do hate to see these two go home, trying to convince them to come back to Ga. My aunt and uncle were like a second set of parents to me. Lived with them for a good while when I was a teenager. Thank you for all the help you gave me this past week, without you it would not have happened. Love you!

It seems as though we have lost true journalism and reporting in our world. You have left wing news and right wing news. What ever happened to the news? Where are are the stories that are effecting me and you? Is our world only experiencing politics and racism or could there be actual reporting that could heal the state of our nation.
