For the uninitiated … Googie is a type of futurist architecture influenced by car culture, jets, the Atomic Age, and the Space Age. It originated in Southern California from the Streamline Moderne architecture of the 1930s, and was popular in American design from roughly 1945-1974. And if you didn’t already know, it’s the main advertising element behind making Las Vegas what it is today. Though most of the Googie neon signs have disappeared, they still live on at the Neon Boneyard Museum. Here’s just a taste of what this place has to offer. 👀

I FINALLY found some time to visit @thehauntedmuseum in Vegas … and it was absolutely blown away. I went in with low expectations, because things like this are usually more cheesy and kitsch than they are cool - but the museum was AWESOME. Yes ,the RIP all-access pass is expensive - but I assure you it’s totally worth the money - especially considering it’s a 2-hour tour. However, there are cheaper passes available. Being able to walk through the historic 1938 Wengert mansion was worth the visit on its own.

A piece of Toronto’s history just burnt down and I’m so sad. If you don’t know anything about this place … St. Anne’s, Gladstone Avenue (and popularly the Group of Seven Church) in Toronto is a National Historic Site and parish of the Anglican Church of Canada. It was established in 1863 as the parish for the hamlet of Brockton, Canada, and is one of the seven (formerly twelve) parishes of Parkdale Deanery. The current building, dating to 1907–08 and overlooking Dufferin Street, is noted for its distinctive design, based on the Byzantine Revival style.
The interior of the church is decorated by artwork by members of the Group of Seven circle of painters, depicting events of the Old and New Testaments and dating to 1923.
Sadly, the most of the church is now gone. 🥺😢
