If you drive north from Las Vegas toward Tonopah, you will hit the ghost town of Goldfield at the halfway point. Though, not a ghost town in the true essence of the word - it has been in a steady rate of decline since its boom days of 20,000 inhabitants. Today, there are less 400 people living in this amazing town. AND … it’s said to have the most haunted hotel in America (though, it’s been abandoned for years). 👻

I recently visited the only McDonald’s in Freeport, Maine. It’s worth mentioning because it’s built inside an 1850s house to accommodate for the town’s design restrictions. Never seen anything like it (though, there’s another McMansion located in New Hyde Park, NY). The question is … could this be the world’s first haunted McDonald’s?!? 👻

One of the more interesting (and effort-filled) lighthouses I’ve ever visited is the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse in Maine. It sits at the halfway point in the harbor, meaning one must walk out on the causeway nearly a mile to get to it. I couldn’t imagine what it must have been like for the lighthouse keeper to work in such a place before the causeway was ever built. 😱

There’s glamping … and then there’s whatever this is. An Airbnb host in Asheville, North Carolina is offering you the chance to sleep in the back of an old pickup … suspended in a tree. Yes, it’s certainly different … but is it tempting to stay the night (or two) for just $38 a night? 👀

Dreaming of the high desert and staying at one of the most magical places ever: the Hotel Luna Mystica. Not usually a big glamping fan, but this place made me completely re-think my stance. 😍😎

A weird fear I have is seeing things like tree stumps underneath the water when I’m in a boat (thanks childhood cottage memories) - so this Jason Voorhees statue under the water is kind of a nightmare to me. But also … I’m totally obsessed!

The work of artist Doug Klein, this Jason statue was created in 2013 and then placed 120 feet down at the bottom of a state-owned mine pit known as Louise in Minnesota. It was created as an homage to the final scene in 1986’s “Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.” 🤿⛓️

Did you know that Japan has several - what is known as - cats islands? One of the most popular over the past few years is Aoshima in Ehime Prefecture on the Seto Inland Sea. The fishing village became somewhat of a ghost island post-WWII with its human population dropping from 900 to just 50 - while the cat population grew yo over 210. 😻

New video up now!!! This was always on my bucket list, and it completely lived up to the hype in my own mind. To date, my favorite ghost town I've ever visited. More than a ghost town, really ... it's a ghost city. Ruderi di Poggioreale in Sicily. Watch now and be amazed. 🤯

I’ve had a few friends rent out castles in Europe, but did you know you don’t have to travel across the pond to get medieval? In fact, this castle in Knoxville, TN is up for rent and fit for a king … or queen… but priced for a pauper. Would you spend a night in a castle? 🤴👸🏰

I stumbled upon Truth or Consequences some years back, and to this day always make a point of stopping and staying the night whenever I’m in the area.

It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names for having chosen to rename itself in the 1950s after a radio show of the same name. Check out the full walkthrough and a history about this little-known town on my YouTube. Link in bio. 😎
