PRESS STATEMENT

IT IS TIME TO UNITE BEHIND GOVERNOR ODODO

On behalf of my family, friends and associates; I join millions of Kogians in offering warm congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Ododo Ahmed Usman on the final affirmation of his election victory in the November 11, 2023 Kogi governorship election by the Supreme Court of Nigeria in a judgement delivered earlier today.

With this judgment, all legal challenges to our party, All Progressives Congress (APC) victory has been cleared. It is time for all citizens of the state, especially political leaders and stakeholders, to unite behind His Excellency, Governor Ododo as he set about the difficult task of governance.

I also use this opportunity to congratulate my brother and friend, Alhaji Murtala Ajaka for a race well-ran and for deepening the democratic process in Kogi state in particular and Nigeria in general, by taking the constitutional path of seeking legal redress via the Courts. However, the Courts have spoken in favour of the winner of . I am gladdened by Alhaji Ajaka's initial reaction to the Supreme Court judgement where notwithstanding his reservation about the judgement, he promised to "continue to work for the betterment of Kogi state through other means." I expected no less from a consummate politician and accomplished gentleman.

I call on other political actors in the state to follow his excellent example, and unite behind Governor Ododo Ahmed Usman. Together, let us demonstrate the shared bonds of brotherhood that has made Kogi the most peaceful state in Nigeria.

Once again, congratulations and accept my best wishes for the future, Your Excellency.

DR. SANUSI OHIARE FACILITATES DISTRIBUTION OF SOLAR HOME SYSTEMS TO EMPOWER WOMEN IN IBAJI LGA

In a significant move to empower women in rural areas and bridge the gender gap in accessing clean energy, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, former Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund (REF), facilitated the distribution of 100 (50 Watts) Solar Home System (SHS) units to 100 housewives in Ibaji Local Government Area (LGA), Kogi East Senatorial District, Kogi State.

The distribution followed a capacity-building training program titled “Derisking Sustainable Off-grid Lighting Solutions” designed to equip the beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe handling and operation of the SHS units. This initiative aligns with Dr. Ohiare’s ongoing mission to ensure his people have access to cheap, reliable, and constant energy.

“We are grateful to the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria (REA) for sponsoring this project in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP),” said a representative of the beneficiaries. “We also extend our sincere appreciation to our son, the Akiliwo Ejeh Olamaboro, Dr. Ohiare, for his continuous dedication to facilitating impactful projects for us even outside office.”

The SHS units will provide the beneficiaries with clean, renewable energy to power their homes, alleviating the challenges associated with dependence on unreliable or expensive energy sources. Dr. Ohiare’s commitment to this project aligns with his ongoing mission to liberate his people’s access to affordable, reliable, and constant energy supply.

This initiative specifically targets women in rural communities, empowering them with clean and renewable energy solutions.
The intervention is expected to improve the living standards of the beneficiaries and their families, particularly women, who typically bear the brunt of household chores.

DR. SANUSI OHIARE REPRESENTS SPECIAL ADVISER ON POLICY COORDINATION AT MINISTRY OF ARTS, CULTURE AND CREATIVE ECONOMY RETREAT.

Abuja– 24 April, 2024–

Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, representing the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination and Head, Central Delivery Coordination Unit, Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman, participated in a retreat organized by the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries.

The retreat focused on the ministry's goals of creating jobs in Nigeria's creative sector and boosting the country's GDP. The minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, outlined the ministry's plans to create 2 million jobs by 2027 and increase Nigeria's GDP by $100 billion by 2030.

Dr. Ohiare's participation as representative of the Special Adviser to Mr. President on Policy Coordination in the retreat underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration's commitment to supporting the creative industries, and their potential to contribute to Nigeria's economic growth. The creative industries are a significant source of job creation and economic diversification in many countries around the world. EDUCATION FOR ALL: DR. SANUSI OHIARE HAILS PRESIDENT TINUBU FOR SIGNING LANDMARK STUDENT LOAN BILL INTO LAW.

All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain and leading Technocrat, Dr Sanusi Ohiare has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for signing the landmark Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill, 2024, into law.

In a press statement issued in Abuja and made available to newsmen, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare said the signing of the momentous legislation by Mr. President "marks a significant step towards removing financial barriers and empowering Nigerians to pursue their educational dreams."

The newly signed Act - a key policy initiative in President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda manifesto document, and which aims to remove financial barriers that have previously prevented many Nigerians from attending universities, polytechnics, and other tertiary institutions; was hailed by the former Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Fund as another instance of Mr. President living up to his reputation of matching words with action as this is a promise fulfilled for all Nigerian youths with aspirations for higher education and vocational training.

Dr. Sanusi Ohiare also commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for expeditious but thorough treatment and passage of the updated Students Loan Bill. He especially commended their foresight in establishing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to process all loan requests, grants, disbursement, and recovery.

While congratulating Nigerian youths and students on this momentous occasion, Dr. Ohiare urged them to take full advantage of the Act as a leverage for a brighter future for themselves and a means of strengthening and upskilling Nigeria’s overall workforce.

“This is a momentous occasion for Nigeria,” said Dr. Sanusi Ohiare “With the signing of this bill, Mr. President has ensured that financial background no longer dictates educational opportunities. This investment in our youth is an investment in the future of our nation.”, the statement concluded.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, former Governor of Yobe State.

On behalf of my family, friends and political associates, I offer my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, friends, and the people of Yobe during this difficult time. I especially condole with my friend and esteemed colleague, his son - Nasir, who I worked closely with during my stint at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

Senator Ibrahim was a dedicated public servant who left a lasting mark on Yobe State and Nigerian politics as a whole. His commitment to progress and the well-being of his people will be fondly remembered.

May Allah forgive his soul and grant him the highest station in Jannah.

A former Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF) and foremost Energy finance expert, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare (DSO) has joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the sad demise of the late Governor of Ondo State, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN). In a public statement issued in Abuja and signed personally, Dr. Ohiare expresses his sincere condolences to the family of the late legal luminary, the government and people of Ondo State, as well as members of his party:

‘With profound sadness, i join the family of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and the entire people of Ondo State in mourning his untimely passing. His vibrant presence, unwavering leadership, and dedication to public service will be deeply missed.”

DR. SANUSI OHIARE MOURNS FORMER COAS, MAJOR GEN CHRIS ALLI

The former Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund and renowned Energy finance expert, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare has condoled with the family, government and people of Kogi state, as well as the Nigerian Army on the passing of their illustrious son and former Chief of Army staff, Major General Mohammed Chris Alli (Rtd) who passed in the early hours of Sunday 19 November, 2023 after a brief illness.

In a statement, Dr. Ohiare expressed his sadness at the demise of the General and elder statesman: "I'm deeply saddened by news of the passing of Major General Chris Alli. This is a great loss to not just the Nigerian Army but the people and Government of Kogi state as the late General can justifiably be described as one of the founding fathers of our beloved Confluence state."

He described the former Chief of Army Staff as a fine and upstanding officer of the Nigerian army who rendered selfless services in the defence of the territorial integrity of Nigeria and left an outstanding legacy of professionalism and excellence: "late Major General Chris Alli was a talented and dedicated military officer. He was passionate about his work and as Chief of Army Staff, enhanced the discipline and professionalism among the core of the Nigerian Army at a most challenging epoch for the Nigerian military. He will be sorely missed by all", the statement read.

He condoled the family of the late Military officer, as well as the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello CON on the passing of their son and elder statesman: "At this difficult moment, I express my heartfelt condolence to the family of Major General Chris Alli, His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello CON, the Ohimege igu of Koton Karfe and his subjects, as well as the good people of Kogi state on the sad demise of our General and one of our revered founding fathers. CONDOLENCE MESSAGE!!!

INNALILLAH WA INNA ILAIHI RAJIUN

I am deeply saddened by the passing of our Royal Father, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr) Ado Ibrahim CON, the paramount ruler of Egbiraland and my grandfather who passed in the early hours of Sunday, 29th October, 2023 at 94 years.

His Royal Majesty was a wise and revered traditional ruler who dedicated his life to serving his people. He left his mark in Nigeria as a renowned captain of industry, philanthropist and bridge-builder par excellence. He was a champion of peace and unity, and he worked tirelessly to promote development and progress not just in Egbiraland and Kogi State, but Nigeria as a whole.

Personally, he was much more than a revered Royal father to me. He was a trusted confidante and wise counsellor whose sage wisdom proved invaluable time and again to me in my sojourn in public service and politics. This makes his passing even more painful coming at this time.

We take solace however in the knowledge that we are from Allah and to Him is our Return.

On behalf of my family, friends and political associates, I extend my sincere condolences to the Government and people of Kogi State, people of Egbiraland, Nigerians and the family of His Royal Majesty.

His Royal Majesty will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a true statesman and a role model for us all.

In this difficult moment for the people of Egbiraland and Nigeria as a whole, I encourage us to look upon his outstanding legacy as a true leader who inspired us all to be our best. Let us draw strength from his example and continue to work together to build a better future for Egbiraland, Kogi State and Nigeria.
