The missionaries we are highlighting this week are Nathan & Renee Owens, BIMI missionaries, serving at the Caribbean Radio Lighthouse on Antigua.

Below is more information about the radio station work.

The Lighthouse is operated by church-supported missionaries and a paid staff of dedicated national workers. Nathan Owens is the station manager and engineer. His wife, Renee, is the station accountant. They have been with the Lighthouse since 2012. Currently, CRL is looking for additional missionary personnel to help with administrative tasks, especially computer and technical needs.

The national staff is drawn from our fellowship of independent Baptist churches in Antigua. Augustine is the operations manager, and he along with Mary-Ann, Sheneza, and Alena announce, produce, and edit programs.

This week's missionary highlight is the Putney Family. They are working to reach the lost in Columbia. Here is there prayer letter for January 2024.

Literature Distribution
One of our ministries here in Colombia has been getting
gospel literature to churches that need it throughout
Colombia. In December, I made the six-hour trip to
Cartago with my SUV full of Bibles and tracts for the
churches there. I was able to preach in two churches in that
area and was encouraged by the fellowship with pastor
Juan Bautista and his family. It is a blessing to be able to
see God use Colombian national pastors and also to be able
to provide Bibles and tracts whenever needed.

Anniversary Service
We have now officially completed 10 years on the
mission field and our church recently celebrated its 9th
anniversary service. We gave away special coffee cups, had
a big meal, and invited as many people as possible to come
and celebrate, and more importantly, to hear the gospel.
Praise the Lord we had close to 150 people attend and three
souls were saved after the service. God has been good to us
and we are thankful for all that he has done in our church
over the last nine years. We look forward to possibly
starting a second church plant next year in a different city
by sending and helping one of the men we have trained.
We will update you as that plan progresses.

Help is on the way!
We have been praying for years that God would call and
send more missionaries to Colombia and God is answering
that prayer. In December, Cathy Jo Demcak was approved
as the newest BIMI missionary to Colombia and will be
working with us here in Rionegro. She has spent three
summers helping us on short term trips and has always
been a tremendous blessing. We enthusiastically
recommend her if your church is looking for a new
missionary to support.

On the podcast, we spend much time looking back on those who served in the past. On Fridays, we are going to try to highlight missionaries who are serving on the field today.

Since we talked about Ecuador in the podcast, we are highlighting the Bloom family in Ecuador. Kason & Bethany Bloom, are missionaries with Vision Baptist Missions.

Here is their most recent prayer letter.

Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,

We started the month of November with a special service during our midweek service, where we had a traditional drink called Colada Morada and some bread shaped like babies called Guaguas de pan. There were over fifty people there for the midweek service!

We also had a special youth event at a park where we rented a soccer field and had a service. Several new teenagers came from the park and heard the Gospel!

On the third Sunday in November, we met before the service to discuss some of our goals and plans for 2024. We are asking more people to get involved in the church’s ministries. Please pray for the different ministries of the church and that more people will get involved in serving.

Praise The Lord, things are advancing with the construction of the new church building. The roof and walls are up. We now will need to finish the flooring, painting, lighting, windows, and doors, as well as the outside areas of the church. We will need approximately ten thousand dollars to finish these areas. Please prayerfully consider giving towards this need.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! Because of the many different churches and individuals who give and pray for us, we can serve here in Ecuador, and we are very grateful for that!

Reuben Archer Torrey (28 January 1856 – 26 October 1928) was an American evangelist, pastor, educator, and writer. He aligned with Keswick theology. Torrey was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, the son of a banker. He graduated from Yale University in 1875 and from Yale Divinity School in 1878, following which he became a Congregational minister in Garrettsville, Ohio. In 1879, he married Clara Smith, and they subsequently had five children. After further studies in theology at Leipzig University and Erlangen University in 1882–1883, Torrey joined Dwight L. Moody in his evangelistic work in Chicago in 1889, and became superintendent of the Bible Institute of the Chicago Evangelization Society (now Moody Bible Institute).
