FAKE NEWS: Vice President Leni Robredo said, “Nababalot ng kadiliman iyong nakikita natin, bakit kailangan mangisda sa karagatan?” (What we see is shrouded in darkness, why should we fish in the ocean?)

FACT CHECK: Our fact checking revealed that it is not true, the fabricated quote mixes part of a statement by Robredo with something the Vice President did not say. This claim is false. The quote card is fabricated; it combines part of a real quote by Robredo with a made up quote. The Vice President had already identified the made up quote as fabricated in 2019.

FACT CHECKING ‼️

FAKE NEWS: The story claims that a priest ( name withheld) from the town of Alcantara in Cebu r***d and impregnated his pastor's daughters, 14 and 16 years old. Reportedly , the mother of the two young girls confirmed that her daughters were three and five months pregnant to the priest. And that the r**e incident happened "sometime in Ocotober last year".
The report said that the priest was nabbed by the police after his parish church "failed to penalize " him; and that he threatened the two girl that he would "kill" their family if they report the matter to the authorities.

FACT CHECK: Our fact checking shows that this is exactly a year - old hoax story. It was first reported last March 2017 . The town of Alcantara hard already quashed this malicious information last year.
The man covered with black cloth is not a priest, but a certain police office who was caught sniffing shabu inside a drug den in Dumanjug, Cebu. The photo was originally shot by Alan Tangcawan.

FACT CHECKING ‼️

FAKE NEWS: Vice President Leni Robredo made a stupid statement that the majority of those working from home were working in their houses.

FACT CHECK: According to our fact checking the claim was first made in March 2020. More than a year later, the closest statement that Robredo said about individuals working from home was made in April 2021, where she said in Filipino that "since they are staying home anyway," they should let workers who didn't have WFH options to get vaccinated first. The page that first posted this claims to be a “satirical page,” but it frequently posts fabricated content that paints Robredo as dumb.

FACT CHECKING ‼️

FAKE NEWS: An image has been shared repeatedly in Facebook posts that claim it shows Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo with her "secret first husband" at their wedding. The text superimposed above the images in the misleading post reads: "Leni Robredo should tell the People what really happened to her first husband who disappeared in Cebu City before she returned to Naga and was given a job by Jessie Robredo [sic] who married her after a few months of courtship. The post's Tagalog-language caption translates to English in part as: "THIS FAKEVP IS HIDING A SECRET". The images were shared alongside a similar claim on Facebook.

FACT CHECK: Our fact-checking revealed that she did not married twice. This accusation is clearly false. "Those in the photo were Daniel and Jennet," she said, "It's true that I got married twice but to the same person. I had a civil and a church wedding with Jesse." So the speculating issue is false because she clearly denied it.
