If you watched yesterdays then it will make the interview spoof even funnier because that interview really happened but in a shall we say "less respectful" way.

Just going to be perfectly honest and my friends will probably give me flack for it but I LIKE COUNTRY!
Which is why for this weeks selection, Molly is her name and the girl's comin' straight outta Nashville.
More precisely, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway (mollytuttlemusic.com).
What I really like and appreciate about country is that it is based on storytelling and great musicianship. This album is a prime example of both.

In March 2020, Tuttle experienced the devastating tornado that tore through much of East Nashville, followed by the global pandemic. While sheltering at home, she found solace by revisiting favorite songs in an attempt to “remind myself why I love music.” An idea for an album emerged, to be recorded with Los Angeles-based producer Tony Berg (Andrew Bird), despite being over 2,000 miles apart.

Fiona Apple released an album entitled "When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the Whole Thing 'fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right." in 1999.

I challenge you to ask Alexa to play it. I'm sure after a couple of lines even she will say "damn, couldn't you have shortened that sh/t up a bit"

This selection is perfect for groovin on a Sunday afternoon.
Slipping through the cracks of infinite timelines, Man from the Future just can't put his past behind him. His journey can be filed as a score for breaking the space-time continuum as written by the Polyrhythmics releasing their sixth full-length studio released on Color Red on May 8, 2020. Continuing the band’s exploration across genre and stylistic lines, Man from the Future documents them at their most evocative and cinematic yet.

Sometimes good bands have not so good ideas. For example, back in 1976 ZZ Top had the epiphany to give their audience a little taste of Texas by bring indigenous Texas animals on tour with them. We're not talkin bout the small creatures... no we're talkin bout the big ones. hence the pic of a buffalo because that's what they brought on tour with them. I'm sure the thought was "lets take gigantic animal that is accustomed to open plains, bring it on tour and expose it to thousands of screaming fans... what could possibly go wrong?" Well, it could escape and bust the rattlesnake cage open (because you can't have a buffalo without some rattlesnakes) which I'm sure caused a slight panic. Well... yeah... that's what happened and consequently ruining any possibility for the rest of us to bring livestock and dangerous animals on tour.

Todays is a bit of a different one. It's called "Abla Deme Lazim Olur" by Lalalar. It's in Turkish (I guess) so I have no idea what they are talking about. All I know is that I was doing a deep head nod to it, so translation... DOPE!!
The album releases on Star Wars Day (May 4 2022)

Here's how they describe themselves:
Istanbul’s Lalalar remind you of your favorite 80’s cult show theme, and simultaneously sound like a delightful dumpster dive of spaghetti western-psychedelics, Anatolian funk, sampling and hazy electronics. The one constant: Lalalar is the type of band you want to move to with abandon.

In order to dodge the Vietnam draft our boy Rick made like Prince going for a layup and jumped the border into Canada where he ended up playing in a garage band with Neil Young. Unfortunately for Rick dodging the draft ultimately landed him in prison for a year.
Oh what might have been had that band stayed together... We could have walked through the desert on a horse named Mary Jane.

**WARNING** LISTENING TO TODAYS MAY CAUSE EXCESSIVE SPONTAINIOUS GROWTH OF MULLET OR JERRYCURL!!

As soon as I heard this it brought me right back to getting up to manually turn a dial to change the channel because Crocket and Tubbs were about to hop in the Testarossa to bag some coke smuggling bad guys.

The cool thing about this reemergence of 80's style music is that the 80's was all about technology and now with digital recording we have the technology to do everything we wanted to do back then. Australian multi-instrumentalist and producer Benjamin Harrison does an amazing job on this nostalgic album. If you happen to have a Testarossa, this is the perfect album to cruise down the street with your big highly processed hair staying firm in the wind.

When it comes to goin' old school Beck knocks it out the park. Back in 2012 he released "Song Reader" an album not on vinyl or cassette.... no that's too modern! He released it as sheet music.
Maybe it's just me but I think that is purely awesome!!!. An album pretty much for musicians because if you want to hear it you better know your scales. Also, it is so open to interpretation that every bands versions can be truly different than the next.

Of course the label wouldn't be happy with a readable album so there was an official album that featured version by Norah Jones, Sparks, both Jacks (Black and White) and Beck himself to name a few.

Why did I pick this song? Because Louie totally delivers on his promise. He sounds like a cheerful guy and this is a cheerful tune. Also, the song and chord progressions that he chooses are cool IMHO and keep the song interesting. If anything it should make your day a little more cheerful. :-)

So Mr. Bob Dylan once did a movie called Renaldo & Clara about a fictional character in his band. However, the fictional character was played by Dylan and Dylan also played himself which kinda left the audience confused.
One thing that is crystal clear for me though is that regardless if it's the mix, monitors or movies, guitar players always want more "me".

Upon further inspection I have learned that one of David Bowies pupils is permanently enlarged. This is apparently because as a teenager he swooped in and went on a date with a girl after convincing a friend not to go on a date with her. Once the friend found out he proceeded to beat the crap out of David permanently damaging his eye.

Main takeaway here is to:
1. get famous
2. hire body guards
and then only if 1 and 2 are in place proceed to
3. steal dates

Now excuse me as I need to get back to writing my soon to be monster mega hit album... Pupil of Bowie

There is something about jazz and strings that just does it for me which is why this weeks selection is a jazz. Although this time it's a single song by DoomCannon ft Lex Amor. https://doomcannon.co.uk/

About the song in his words:
“When creating the track I was inspired by galvanizing songs like Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Mortal Man’ with a message prophesizing an uprising of empowerment in the community. This really resonated with me as this was around the same time as the Black Lives Matter protests in the middle of the pandemic in 2020.” Accumulating to a melodious zenith where the string quartet acutely contrasts with the earthy, Dilla-esque drum beat, creating a flow of tension and consonance throughout, reflecting the mood of an unprecedented time.

DoomCannon is a London-based composer, producer & multi-instrumentalist heading up forward-thinking, improvised Jazz-inspired outfits like Project Karnak and TriForce. In 2022 DoomCannon’s focus is releasing his solo project. Musical director for award-winning vocalist, Celeste, he’s performed live at the Brit Awards and Later with Jools Holland. Gaining respect as a leader in the scene, DoomCannon has toured internationally as a member of Nubya Garcia’s band and invited in his own right to run an ongoing bi-monthly residency at the legendary Ronnie Scotts. Presenting his solo project at Abbey Road Studios, selected via Jazz Re:freshed as part of the SXSW/ British Council collaboration, the stage is set for DoomCannon to raise the bar again in 2022 and beyond.

If you're anything like me you may or may not be slightly hung over. Either way it's Sunday morning and I just want to chill and learn something with minimal effort from the comfort of my couch. Hold on to your Bell Bottoms and s**g carpeting because for todays we're going full disco!
Back in the day when I was crate digging for dope hip hop samples every once in a while I would come across some obscure album that I would just like listening to because it is so interesting. This is one of those albums. Only, this album is so new that hasn't been released yet but captures that 70's vibe perfectly.

The band boasts six members; Ariel Harrosh (Bass) Lotan Yaish (Drums), Yuli Shafriri (Vocals), Tsuf Mishali (Keys and Synths), Tal Eyal (Percussion) and Itamar Kluger (Diwan saz, both electric and acoustic, electric baglama, Greek 4 double string bouzouki). They came together some years after band leader Itamar Kluger discovered the saz whilst travelling the Kaçkar mountains in Turkey’s eastern region. The saz being a long necked, plucked stringed instrument native to the rural areas of the country, which remains an integral part of Şatellites’ union, and plays predominance throughout the bands’ album and music.

In the same way the guitar was electrified in the 1930s, the electrification of the saz in the 1960s led to an explosion of rock music dredged in middle eastern influence, a musical genre fittingly called “Anatolian Rock” and based on the principles of Anglo-American and psychedelic rock music, yet incorporating the style, rhythm, and scales of traditional Anatolian folk music.

As such, throughout the creation of the album, the band conceived the idea of intertwining differing elements such as the groove of funk, the rhythm of disco, and reverb of psychedelic, with traditional middle-eastern rhythm and structure, opening up the wealth of Turkish music to the western world, so that anyone and everyone can relate to something from the album.

With that said, Şatellites emphasise that their music is not fundamentally Turkish music, on the contrary, they merely try to sound as close to the genre as possible. Their sole aim is to honour this amazing culture and to present it to the world in a more accessible and attainable form.

Get your neck brace out because this is a hip hop headbanger!
From Grammy Award winning trumpeter, producer and orchestra leader Michael Leonhart (michaelleonhart.org) and versatile rapper JSWISS (jswissmusic.com) comes the album Bona Fide.
The project was recorded remotely during the pandemic with Michael and his orchestra handling the music and JSWISS handling the lyrics
I love this album because I love hip hop and I love orchestras and this has both.
On a side note guys, if you're looking for a guest mix engineer I would love to mix this... Just sayin'
