06/11/2024

Hello friends! It’s been a while since we posted but we have been working away at post-production and we finally have exciting news.

We have a picture lock!

Huge thanks to Rebecca Tinsley for stepping in to be our second editor while Kayla is off travelling the world! Also thanks to Rob Gemmell and Drew Gilbert who helped with some minor edit stuff, to everyone who came out to the test screening and gave us great feedback, and to Ashley Phinney for shooting b-roll with me in the lovely village of Harvey.

We are now moving on to sound design with the rock star duo of Tibor Pece and Rob Gemmell, finalizing the soundtrack, and working on graphics and titles. Still a lot of work to be done, but we’re so excited to reach this milestone and we can’t wait to share more exciting news with you all in the near future.

New Brunswick filmmakers Britany Sparrow and Kayla-Renée Ossachuk spent the summer of 2023 making a feature film on a shoestring budget. Come listen to their stories about casting, locations, finding a crew, and all of the tricks they used to keep the film on time and on budget.

Biography: Kayla-Renée Ossachuk is a producer, actor, and assistant director based in Fredericton, NB. Kayla is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick Media Arts and Cultures program with a specialization in Film and a minor in Theatre, having relocated from her home of Kenora, Ontario to study. When she’s not on set, you can find her running her social media production company, Media Odyssey, from the comfort of her own home, or on stage acting and singing along side her husband Andrew.

Britany Sparrow is originally from Vernon, British Columbia, and has been making films in New Brunswick since 2006. After graduating from UNB with a BA in English (Creative Writing) and a certificate in Film and Video Production, Britany joined the New Brunswick Filmmakers’ Co-operative, and she directed her first short film, The Perfect Cliché, in 2007. Since then she has directed 9 films including The Morning After (Short Film Venture), True Hollywood Romance, Gamers: A Love Story (on CBC Download), Chopsticks (NB Joy), Here Without You, Co-Ed (collaboration with writer/director Gordon Mihan), Friend Zone (artsnb), and Stand By You. She has also co-produced 3 short films including Strange Hobby (dir. Allen Galloway), Gary (dir. Jon Brenan), and Zombies vs. Cannibals (dir. Rob Gemmell). She is currently in post-production for her first feature film, Still Your Song.
