HEADLINE: 4 FARMERS JOIN SOLDIERS DURING OPERATION AS TROOPS NEUTRALISE BANDITS IN KADUNA
In a series of successful operations in Kaduna, troops from the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch have made significant strides against criminal elements terrorizing local communities.
This was made known in a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army.
He said on 1 November 2023, a clearance operation in the vicinity of Kampanin Doka village, Birnin Gwari LGA, resulted in the demise of four bandits.
According to him, the troops recovered weapons and items, including one AK 47 rifle, a magazine, a machete, a mobile phone, and fourteen motorcycles from the criminals.
He said in another incident on 2 November 2023, troops responded to a bandit attack reported by farmers harvesting crops in Sabon Sara village.
Part of the statement read:
”The troops, on receipt of the information, quickly mobilized to the area. Upon arrival, four of the farmers courageously joined the troops and neutralized one bandit while others withdrew in disarray with gunshot wounds.
”The troops recovered two AK 47 rifles while one of the farmers, Mallam Abdulrahman Aliyu, who sustained minor injuries during the encounter, was immediately evacuated to a nearby military hospital for treatment.
”Similarly, on 3 November 2023, acting on credible intelligence, troops carried out clearance operation around the general areas of Kankomi, Juji, Gwantu, Kujeni, Kikwari and Kaso all in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
”Troops made contact with bandits and successfully neutralized two of the criminals. Items recovered include one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 magazine, four 7.62MM Special ammunition, one Honda motorcycle and one Techno phone.”
The statement added that Major General VU Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, praised the troops for their bravery and lauded the farmers for their courageous assistance.
He urged the troops to maintain their efforts until all terrorists, bandits, and criminal elements within the Division’s area of responsibility were neutralised entirely.
