In response to this LUNACY:
You (McFarlane Toys) are, without a doubt, the greatest collection of tone deaf idiots I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. This is reprehensible.
NO ONE SHOULD BUY THIS AT THIS PRICE.
I’m posting this after reading comments, some of which, with all due respect, seem very “apologist”.
I want to add two particular points/food for thought.
The first, there is ZERO reasons that a rated R movie presents ANY DIFFERENT, let alone “unique restrictions”, on pricing options. That’s a lie, right out of the gate. McFarlane is certainly NOT the only company to make toys based on R rated movies. And do you think that if other companies suddenly had rights issues because of a films rating, they would jack the price like this!? Seriously!? Come on, guys . . .
Two. Let’s give the benefit of the doubt to McFarlane. Which, for the record, is giving a company the benefit of the doubt that can’t produce a product from a movie, which is well documented, in the proper colors(*see Batmobile from Batman Forever, whose lighting is AS BLUE AS THE SKY IN THE FILM, but delivered to FANS in GREEN*). And let’s say this is all on WB. What possible justification can be presented by WB that informs the decision to jack the price of this product? Could it be an attempt to recruit some of the money lost in the LOATHSOME and WHOLLY FAILED SEQUEL? Maybe. Is WB, through Todd, punishing fans who HATED that movie? Could be. But our hero, Todd, which some in here have stated, is always “looking out for fans”(utterly debatable), SHOULD HAVE SAID NO TO WB, and THEN informed “fans” why he said no.
He didn’t.
And he DIDN’T, because YOU are NOT his PRIORITY!
MONEY IS!!
And, that some people WILLINGLY SWALLOW these detestable VAGARIES that you are offered, to let you know that “they hear you”, is AMAZING, in this day and age.
READ THE STATEMENT AGAIN, AND ASK YOURSELF IF YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WAS THE “ONLY APPROACH” THEY COULD TAKE! They explain NOTHING.
Are you a “full size” prop collector? Maybe you find value in the Joker notebook replica, "Don't Forget to Smile" metal sign, Open Mic Night Poster (paper), and Forgive my Laughter (card stock) additions. Ok. I mean, my thinking is that most people in here are toy collectors(McFarlane TOYS). Maybe I’m wrong. Does THIS justify $250 plus shipping to you?
What do you consider “exclusive details and features”? I mean, when you do a playset, SHOULDN’T IT INCLUDE things featured in the “entertainment”!? So, then, are they providing “value” to include(figures aside) a notebook, handgun, coffee mug, microphone, and collectible art card(that last one is a F-U to you, if you are unaware)? Shouldn’t a diorama, based on this movie scene, include stuff like a “Live with Murray Franklin” studio set, host desk, host chair, interview chair, and plant? There’s NOTHING special about this! Did they make it feel “worth it” to YOU, by adding things THAT SHOULD BE THERE ANYWAY(not to mention a bunch of paper product “prop replicas”, which, to toy collectors(the fans of McFarlane TOYS) ARE USELESS!?
Call this what it IS; a cash grab!
Call Todd what he IS; about the MONEY, NOT THE FANS!
And don’t hand me this BS about companies “need to make money”excuse, that some provide for ANY of the fan-f’ing product decisions made by this lunatic. He’s doing FINE. He releases product EVERY WEEK. He announces upcoming product, like, EVERY DAY. Tone-deaf, purposefully “incorrect” product, when one considers coloring, styling, and other issues he ignores to justify reusing tooling he already has. (And yes, I know how the business works, but COME ON GUYS!) AND, doing so, implies the notion of “If you don’t like it, too bad. It’s what your getting, and ALL your getting . . . until I release the PLATINUM, and more often than not, the desired version, in WAY lesser numbers for bots and scalpers to grab before you EVER get a chance to.” He’s doing FINE. Not by the FANS, but by his bottom line.
Send a message. Say NO. If you DON’T, you only have yourself to blame for the next $200+ item he puts out, using BS and vagaries to justify it(if he EVEN BOTHERS TO)and it’s actually something you want.
