Siavonga Kanyelele tear gas!
NewsDay - SN has learnt that the multiple rounds of tear gas that were fired in Kanyelele by officers were for self-defense.
Report says during a night patrol at Kanyelele market, some unruly drunk people allegedly threw stones at the law enforcers when they were carrying out their duties, a situation which forced officers to fire tear gas in the air for self-defence. Unfortunately some tear gas canisters ended up of landing at the homes around the market.
Kanyelele market chairperson Mulenga Mwape has confirmed the tear gas incident and thanked the officers for night patrols at the trading place.
However, Mwape and other Kanyelele residents have expressed dispressure over the tear gas incident.

🛑THE UPND is Siavonga has officially welcomed 2021 independent parliamentary candidate Bwalya Charles Mwape who rejoined the rulling party recently.
In 2021, Mwape resigned from UPND and stood as an independent parliamentary candidate for Siavonga constituency during the general election.
UPND Siavonga district chairperson Chequevera Ngandu who welcomed Mwape at Supu Yambuzi during the 'welcome back party' urged party members to work with Mwape to grow the party.
Chequevera said he understands that some people may have issues with the return of Mwape but they should welcome him for the sake of growing the party.
"Politics is about numbers. Today we have multiplied our number in UPND. It is no longer 2.8 million something. I think today we are heading towards 4 million.
Chequevera called for unite among the UPND members in Siavonga.
The chairman urged Mwape to contribute positively to the party in the area.
" Work like us old members. I know you had ideas that made you to stand in 2021 general election. So we need those ideas of yours, give
those elected leaders that are in offices to see that you are already a leader, " said Chequevera.
Meanwhile, Mwape thanked the UPND leadership for welcoming him back in the party.
He said It is now on record that he is UPND member.
"It is now on record that am UPND member.
Let's support the people in leadership. Let's give them chance, the development that we want is coming," said Mwape.
Mwape said he will support and work with the party and elected leaders in Siavonga 'as well as offer advice where needed'. #NewsDay
🛑✅Siavonga council releases Ward Development Fund
Siavonga Town Council has released 1 million Kwacha Ward Development Fund for all the 12 wards in Siavonga Constituency.
Siavonga town council chairperson Given Kwapu has confirmed the development to the media today saying the funds were budgeted for in the 2022 council budget.
Kwapu said the funds will be used in the wards for developmental projects and other amenities.
He said it is time for the local authority to supplement government's effort in bringing development closer to the people.
The council chairperson encouraged Ward Development Committees (WDC) in Siavonga to identify projects where the funds will be channeled to.
He has emphasised that money will only be spent on already identified projects by residents through Ward Development Committee meetings. #NewsDay
🛑✅ HER name is Rabbeca Mwale a charlady of Kuzwidilila Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Siavonga.
She is one of the people who attended the training in Cooperative Governance and Entrepreneurship which was organized by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development through Zambia Cooperative College.
Mwale is happy that she participated in this training. "The knowledge gained will be actively used in practice and also share with the members in our cooperatives" she added.

Conflict Resolution in Cooperatives through Governance(Leadership)and Entrepreneurship.
The college Vice Principal Noy Mwanamakondo urged cooperatives to work.

Mwanamakondo said cooperatives need to be utilised effectively and not just for the collection of Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
He added that cooperatives need to work according to the regulations.
" Don't make your own rules which is against the law, " said Mwanamakondo.

🛑✅ Baibangu calls on ECZ to start printing ballot papers locally
A senior citizen in Siavonga has called on
the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to print the ballot papers for Kabushi and Kwacha parliamentary by-elections locally.
Simamba observed that printing of ballot papers abroad is retrogressive to the creation of jobs for Zambians.
He said if ballot papers were to be printed in Zambia, more employment opportunities would be created and that government printers and other private printer would also be improved.
Simamba who is commonly known as "Baibangu" advised ECZ and other institutions in this country to start using local means available in the country and minimize overdependence on other countries to offer services.
