NMPA Sues Twitter for $250 Million in Copyright Lawsuit for Music Publishers
"The National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) has filed a $250 million copyright infringement lawsuit against Twitter on behalf of 17 music publishing companies. The suit alleges that Twitter has knowingly infringed on approximately 1,700 songs and seeks damages of $150,000 per infringement case, as well as additional damages for direct, contributory, and vicarious infringement. The lawsuit highlights Twitter's failure to obtain proper licenses and agreements for the use of musical compositions on its platform, leading to significant copyright infringement that harms music creators. The NMPA claims that Twitter has ignored formal infringement notices."
