Digicel is proud to support the 3rd Kemase Ecotourism Festival in cash and kind valued at K10,000. The 3rd Kemase Ecotourism Festival will be held in the Lufa District of the Eastern Highlands Province from 13th - 14th of September, 2023.

Digicel Goroka General Manager officially presented a cheque of K5,000 to Kemase Ecotourism Director, Mr Lincoln Kisuma and his team. The festival is a two days event celebrating cultural traditions from Kemase and other parts of Eastern Highlands.

With a unified and intensified booing and chanting from the Supporters here in the Nation's Capital has released the pressure valve and this has made the team to play to their potential.

The boys from the east are one of the biggest surprise packages to begin their Digicel Cup 2023 season.

With so much pressure on the coach , the Lahanis has proven every predictions and critics wrong from the beginning by making it to the top 6 as underdogs.

For those who thought they had a couple strokes of luck were also proven wrong when they defeated the 2022 premiers by 14-8 and the 2022 runner up by 24-18 and this has become the favourite story so far.

This now has qualified them to play against the boys from Lae in the Major Semi Final which will see their 2018 fairy tale fate a reality whether to meet in the Grand Final.

Kafu joins Hunters camp

Our blockbusting center, Kafu Ken received a call this week to join the SP PNG Hunters. He will be heading to the Hunters camp in Port Moresby on Monday next week. He joined the Lahanis development squad in 2020 and has been a very consistent player of our team with class performances.

His outstanding performances in the last four rounds of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup have opened up this opportunity for him. We wish him all the best as he pursue his rugby league journey with PNG Hunters!

SIA UNSEATS NUMU

: Businessman and PNC Party candidate, Simon Sia is the new governor-elect for the Eastern Highlands.

Sia polled 202,624 votes to oust sitting Governor and One Nation Party leader, Peter Numu. Numu finished second on the race with 156,450 votes.

URP MAN WINS LUFA OPEN SEAT

United Resources Party (URP) candidate Simo Kilepa, who has been leading counting for the Lufa Open seat in Eastern Highlands Province has been declared Member-elect.

Mr. Kilepa was declared by the Returning Officer Petrus Awi at 3:15pm at the National Sports Institute in Goroka.

Mr. Kilepa polled 14,390 votes surpassing the absolute majority mark of 11,829, defeating PNG Party candidate Ivitalo Sonic Saneto with 9,266 votes.

Mr. Kilepa said his main focus will be on Agriculture, Education and Infrastructure.

He thanked the people of Lufa for their confidence, trust and approval to lead them for the next five years.

Mr. Kilepa also thanked electoral officials and security personnel for their efforts in making sure the election was conducted peacefully, despite minor issues.

Meantime, Mr. Kilepa is the fourth member to be declared in Eastern Highlands Province.

The other four districts - Daulo, Okapa, Henganofi and Kainantu are expected to make declarations tomorrow.

Tonight is a special night as it is the birth of another chapter in your life, it gives the introduction to the polling day tomorrow when our people will go to the polls to vote for whom they believe is better to lead them in the next 5 years.

As you get ready to run the race starting tomorrow as a candidate your heart starts to pump faster than its normal rate, many thoughts run through your mind and you imagine a special scenario where you want it to become reality.

You are confident that you can lead, your experiences, knowledge and blessings you have gained over the years in regards to leadership have caused you to be in the race to serve the people, hence many we believe that you are capable of doing it.

What a journey it has been from, mere planning to ex*****on, accidents, laughter, stress, financial constraints, campaigns and many encounters that you and the team faced in this journey called the Elections.

You stood tall and did well, you've learnt a lot along the way and made memories that will shape the course of your leadership in the future.

It's not over yet until they declare the winner so the race continues and processes are still on foot.
