Educators, dancers, and choreographers took part in the recently concluded SALA (Skills Acquisition and Learning Application) Abrenio: 2023 Division Folk Dance Workshop which lasted over the course of three days from December 08-10, 2023 at the Abra High School gymnasium.

SALA Abrenio aimed to foster knowledge and appreciation for folk and traditional dances as bridge and provide teachers with resource materials on dance such hand-outs and audio material. Proponents of this event are Mr. Geron B. Bermudez and Mr. Jacinto Bose. This event was also made successful with the help of the learning facilitators who guided the participants every step of the way and the unwavering support of Mr. Lino Queza, the school principal, Mr. Emmanuel Bugtong, the EPS for MAPEH, and Mr. Amilcare Panelo, the OIC of the MAPEH Department.

Participants were taught different folk dances like La Jota Laoageรฑa, Florida Blanca, and many more. The atmosphere was full of joy as participants engaged in twirls and footwork all while learning about the historical and cultural significance of each dance style.

The success of SALA Abrenio opens the door to more cultural events and trainings in the future, fostering an environment that celebrates diversity and encourages cultural exploration in the community.

Themed "From Timeless Traditions to Pinnacle of Excellence: AHS Shines Through the Ages", not only did students and teachers pay tribute to the schoolโ€™s evolution and heritage but synced to its scholarly milestones, extracurricular pursuits, and talent showcases.

The celebration kicked off with the school community gathering for a solemn flying of balloons ceremony. This underscored the passing of knowledge from the past generations to the next, emphasizing that AHS's legacy is not just a reflection of the past but a looking glass to the future.

As a reminder, Principal Lino V. Queza urged participants to build a sense of community and connection to the schoolโ€™s history and the people who have contributed to its growth.

Moreover, Mr. Deo Balaoro shared memories and stories reflecting the schoolโ€™s achievements and legacies that discerned the students, faculty, and staff's hard work, dedication, and competence over the years.

Having rested on the pillars of unity in diversity, delegates from each grade level showcased their versatile moves through a unity dance and various dance sports.

From sensual and intricate tango moves, expressive rumba techniques, syncopated jazz rhythms, slow waltz, playful cha-cha, to upbeat boogie footwork, the dancers set the floor on fire and made the audience want more.

After an intense display of dance genres, the Grade 12 coterie with their quick-paced jive, were announced winners to roaring cheers.

As the echoes of celebration continue, AHSโ€™s legacy lives on, ready to embark on the next chapters of its educational journey.

Abra High School continues its thrust in championing skills essential for success in the 21st century such as reading and literacy. Lodged under the MATATAG AGENDA and themed โ€œPAGBASA: Pag-asa sa MATATAG na Kinabukasanโ€, the school reading bureaus bared school-wide activities to boost reading habits among learners and teachers.

Mystery reading buzzed the crowd on November 28, featuring a province-renowned radio reporter Dexter Abella, who served as the reading ambassador. Adding an element of suspense and excitement for the students, the mystery reader was kept a secret until the reading session.

A set of multiple-choice pop quiz related to the material covered was asked to check the learnersโ€™ comprehension.

Prime movers also implemented a reward system for correct answers to make the activity more competitive and fun.

On the same day, the school community synced at 9:00 AM to observe โ€œAraw ng Pagbasa Challengeโ€. This simultaneous reading event aimed to urge learners to cultivate a mindset of lifelong learning by seeking out new information, exploring varied ideas, and adapting to a volatile world.

Three-day โ€œBook Talkโ€ episodes hyped the kids even more, allowing them to initiate discussions of a more inclusive worldview by fostering cultural awareness and understanding.

Teachers and learners also took part in โ€œShare a Book Driveโ€ and set up an accessible โ€œReading Pantryโ€ in the library and at the School Learning Resource Center to cultivate reading culture in school by making books and other reading materials accessible to individuals who may not have the means to purchase them.

Prime movers, Mrs. Michelle T. Paculan and Mrs. Raquel M. Tarinay of Projects GAMENG (Getting Learners to Advance in Reading by Maximizing the Culture of Engagement Necessary for Genuine Learning) and SHINE (Sikaping Hasain ang kakayahan sa pagbasa gamit ang mga Interbensyong Nunuot sa Edukasyon) respectively, push for a year-round literacy drives as they are a fundamental algorithm to a childโ€™s academic success.

Your home away from home is your cozy blanket fort. Your teachers and classmates? They're trusty sidekicks, ready to offer laughter and support. Nowadays, schools even have mental health superheroes in the form of counselors and support programs, swooping in to save the day when you need a boost.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: AHS Girl Scouts celebrate their Founderโ€™s Day at the town plaza in Pidigan, Abra. There they got to meet and mingle with fellow members of the girl movement after many years of virtual interactions due to the pandemic.

Together, they celebrated their Lola Pepa and promised to continue and celebrate the legacy she started: the Girl Scout of the Philippines.

Exploring the deeply intertwined issues of su***de and mental health requires us to peel off an onion of stigma layer by layer, where we uncover the intricate connections between the two.

Stigma often stops students from sharing their struggles, and this can create unwanted barriers between a person and those around them. To make things better, we need to teach people about mental health, be kind and understanding, and create a safe space where everyone feels okay talking about their feelings and getting help when they need it.

Here, our darling Steffannee contributes to the scientific discourse on mental health ๐Ÿ”

The recent school org fair dazzled attendees with a myriad of clubs and activities. From AsTec's scientific wonders to Indayaoโ€™s swag, the campus was buzzing with possibilities.

Performances by the Indayao Dance Crew lit up the floor, celebrating the performing arts. Crisa Juhan Bringas, the SSLG President gave her opening remarks. Mr. Lino Queza, the school principal, gave a motivating speech to students, encouraging them to be part of the wide array of clubs for the AHS community.

Interactive exhibits, like the Peer Counseling Club's freedom wall and the music clubsโ€™ open mic sessions left a lasting impact. Different academic clubs set up booths where they gave a glimpse of what life as one of them would be.

The fair became a carnival, featuring fun activities, stickers, and simulations. The photo booth captured a memorable prologue that marked the start of possible beginnings with their chosen orgs.

The fair fostered community connections and awards for outstanding feats and contributions. It truly was a day to remember for both club recruiters and interested parties.
