I just listened to the 1st 2 episodes of Hello, John Doe hosted by my friend, the late Todd Matthews. I cried, I laughed, and as always, I learned.

If he were here, I would call him and gush about how “freaking fantastic” this podcast is. I would tell him how his passion to name the nameless and to bring the missing home radiates in every word, and how I could not be more excited for him.

Hello, John Doe from iHeartRadio tells the story of a man who believed the cases he felt compelled to relentlessly pursue - chose him. A belief I wholeheartedly understand.

Todd had a way of taking a story and turning it into an adventure. He could change hopelessness to hope in a 10 minute phone call, and his “Toddisms”…well, they never failed to make me laugh.

"FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a national test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) on Oct. 4, 2023.

IPAWS National Test 2023
The test will reach millions of mobile phones across the country via Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), radio and television via the Emergency Alert System (EAS), and other communication pathways.

Test will take place at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023. Backup testing date is Oct. 11.

The national test will help ensure that Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and the Emergency Alert System (EAS) continue to be effective ways to warn the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level.

All major U.S. wireless providers participate in Wireless Emergency Alerts and will transmit the national test to their subscribers.

If your mobile phone is on and within range of an active cell tower from a participating wireless provider, you should receive the national test. Wireless providers will transmit the national test for 30 minutes, but your phone should only receive it once."

AN UPDATE IN THE CRYSTAL ROGERS CASE!

🚨UPDATE🚨 Michigan State Police, with the assistance of Michigan State University students participating in a cold case internship, announced on September 14, 2023, that they were able to link Charles David Shaw to the 1982 homicide of 16-year-old Kimberly Louiselle.

Shaw was previously identified as the perpetrator in the 1983 homicide of 19-year-old Christina Castiglione through Forensic Genetic Genealogy paid for with a grant from Season of Justice. After Shaw was identified, his DNA profile was uploaded to CODIS and subsequently matched to DNA recovered from evidence in Kimberly’s homicide. Investigators are currently looking at the possibility of additional victims of Charles David Shaw and are asking that anyone with potential information about Shaw’s criminal activity between 1970 and his death in 1983 contact Michigan State Police.

, a young mother and new bride, was driving in her yellow Jeep on OH-68 in Ripley, Ohio, when an unknown assailant ambushed her car.

Brittany was executed — shot three times and killed in the driver’s seat — while Brittany’s 18 month old daughter was shot in the head in the back seat.

Adding to the heartbreak: her autopsy noted that Brittany was 5 months pregnant with her second child.

On January 19, 1999, construction workers were clearing a muddy lot in Lawrenceville, Georgia, when a skull was located. After superficial excavation, a nearly intact skeleton was recovered.

Recovered with the remains of this John Doe was a 3-button pull-over short sleeve sports shirt and a black necktie. No other articles of clothing or personal belongings were found.

🧬 In 2023, the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office, as part of a longstanding collaboration with Othram Inc. is using advanced forensic DNA testing to help identify the man or a close relative.

Before ’s name was ever printed with an “Endangered Missing” headline, Anna was a person — a person who lived a full life with a vibrant heart.

Anna dated Charles Chorman on and off for four years, from 1994 to 1998 — all while she had no idea that Charles was living a double life, with a wife and son.

Then, on August 19, 1998, Anna met Charles at a local South Shore bar. Anna, along with her 1988 four-door blue/gray Mazda, vanished that night.

The next morning, Charles went to work at the Edkins Auto Scrap & Salvage yard in Staten Island, New York, where a coworker said Charles had scratches on his face.
