China's incursion into Taiwan's air defense identification zone (adiz) with a swarm of fighter jets and nuclear bombers has left the west worried. The events that happened on Friday, Saturday and Sunday involved more than 90 aircrafts.
Taiwan responded by scrambling its fighter jets against the Chinese aircraft to lead them away. The main question here is whether the US is ready to defend the democratic Taiwan against Chinese invasion. Chinese invasion of Taiwan is one of the major goals of President Xi Jing Ping's foreign policy. Therefore, invasion looks imminent.
Another big question being asked is what is the effect of hasty and chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan on its support to her allies. China is convinced the US will not intervene in Taiwan. The US failed to intervene when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine and this might work to bolster Beijing's audacity.
The US remains to be the world's super power and China has a long way to go. The West's spirit is that of fighting and fighting and therefore China shouldn't underestimate or dismiss it with impunity at any point in time. The cost will be enormous.

Haiti hit by a 7. 2 Magnitude Earthquake which has so far claimed 304 lives. This comes as Haiti is reeling from political upheavals after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise. Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake in 2010 that claimed 200,000 lives. Who is to blame for Haiti's lack of early warning mechanisms? Are Haitian buildings built to sustain such calamities owing to Haitian geography which is prone to earthquake? Is poverty to blame? Nevertheless, Haitian leadership needs to take the threat of earthquake seriously and develop comprehensive and resilient mechanisms to avert future calamities.

Taliban has taken control of all major cities apart from the capital Kabul. Their victory is now considered imminent and rhe Afghani government faces a dilemma of either surrendering or gamble with a fight that will bring untold misery to the Afghani civilians. The main question one can ask is whether the Afghani government has regional allies or not. Regional countries need to step in and stand with the Afghani government to safeguard the progress achieved in the last 20 years under the American assistance.
