Here’s a short summary of the videos that don’t typically do well on the IG algorithm and fail to land on the explore pages:⁠

❌ Low-Res Videos:⁠
Videos that have a low quality or have been put through several apps before being uploaded to Reels.⁠

⁠❌ Watermarks:⁠
Any video that has a watermark(TikTok on it will not be shown on the explore pages.⁠)
⁠
❌ Borders:⁠
Borders around the video or on the bottom and/or top of the video.⁠ Make sure you record your videos in 9:16.
⁠
❌ Cut Off/Too Much Text:⁠
Any video that has too much text or text completely covering the face.⁠
⁠
❌ Bad Lighting:⁠
This is when the subject of the video is hard to see/filmed in dark or backlit spaces.⁠

Are you aware of the 80/20 rule? 🤔

Essentially, 80% of your social media content should be either educational or entertaining and only 20% should be sales content.

If they are following your page, they are already somewhat invested in your business. Don't scare them away by selling to them EVERY DAY. Make them laugh, give them something to think about or just let them see the human side of your biz. Otherwise your follower count will drop over time.

Instagram Update - Adam Mosseri recently said it was “no longer a photo-sharing app,” noting the company was prioritizing a shift into video amid significant competition from TikTok and YouTube. 📽

Instagram is now taking another step toward its larger goal of making video a more central part of the Instagram experience with news that it will now combine IGTV’s long-form video and Instagram Feed videos into a new format called simply “Instagram Video.”

These videos, both longer and shorter, will be found on users’ profiles in a new “Video” tab.

3 tips for creating successful Instagram Reels:

1. Create a Storyboard
Once you figure out your call-to-action, create a shot list, aka what you want to film, and start shooting. Knowing what you’re going to film for each frame will make it simple to shoot and help keep your video within the 30-second Reels time limit.

2. Use a Trending Song
Instagram has recently released a new feature that allows you to search for trending songs. As you create a Reel, simply click on the audio icon, then “see more” next to trending songs.

3. Make a Commitment
Gaining favor with Instagram comes by using its features. Brands and creators who use all of Instagram’s in-app features see more visibility on Instagram. Posting Instagram Reels consistently helps the Instagram algorithm prioritize your content.

Instagram is no longer a photo sharing app, according to Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram. In a video posted to his Instagram and Twitter accounts, Mosseri said the company is looking to lean into entertainment and video after seeing the success of competitors like TikTok and YouTube.

One way to overcome these feelings is to develop a new internal script. Become consciously aware of the conversation going on in your head when you’re in a situation that triggers your Impostor feelings. Then instead of thinking, “Wait till they find out I have no idea what I’m doing,” tell yourself “Everyone who starts something new feels off-base in the beginning. I may not know all the answers but I’m smart enough to find them out.” 👊🏼
