Open discussion, and civil debate are healthy for human growth and finding solutions to problems. It's what our country was built on.
Protesting is your civil right and a way to be heard as a body of the people. MLK used it to change history in a peaceful way.
Violence will always only be met with more violence. This is why war exists. Acting in violence as a response to someone else's belief is in itself terrorism, regardless of heritage, religion, ethnicity, beliefs, geological location, or citizenship.
Without civil disobedience we are no better than the countries and people we judge on the news when civil distress erupts elsewhere in the world.
Black lives do matter, as do all lives. This includes the men and women that protect us everyday, our soldiers, our police officers, your neighbor that conceal carries. These are all good people. We cannot change the minds of those that refuse to have their minds changed.
The media always shows us the bad, but never the good. Guns, knives, cars, drugs, bombs, they have all been used to kill people in malicious ways. Used to commit murder. But they have also been used by law abiding citizens to do good things. And to save lives. We cannot base our opinions on something just because of the bad. If that is the case we should just live in padded boxes and never come out.
So quickly do we forget the good in life. So quickly we forget the things we shouldn't. So quickly do we look for the evil and despair in life.
Vietnam POW/MIA - We said never forgotten, but we did.
9/11 - We said we would never forget, but we did.
Veterans - We said we will never forget your sacrifice, but we do.
America - We say we are here to help. We say we want to change the world. But we don't, not for the better.
We have homeless, we have Americans addicted to drugs, we have starving children, under educated communities. But we turn our backs on them to help someone half way around the world, just for global recognition. It's because no one sees you helped that homeless woman find peace today. No one saw you help that starbing child eat today. No one saw you take that single mother of 3 to rehab today.
Doing the right thing isn't about recognition, it's about being an American, and being the best you.
This pandemic has been hard on everyone, everywhere. But that doesn't mean that we can't be the best that we can be each and everyday. Find someone in need, every single day of 2021. It doesn't matter what they need, maybe a hug, maybe an ear to bend. Maybe just to know someone cares. But be that person for them that day. I promise to you that if we all do this, 2021 will be one for the history books. And we will get through this, and we will be better.
We don't need a president to do this or to tell us how things will get better.
Only together, can we Make America Great Again.
