I finished my 40th game this year. Days Gone is a third person shooter, open world zombie game. It's a Walking Dead/Last of Us type universe/story. The gunplay is well done and the stealth aspects aren't too annoying (I usually HATE stealth in games). The characters are likeable and the story is decent. I have a couple cons. One is the amount of bugs and glitches I ran into. This game has been out for awhile, it should be cleaned up by now. Not deal breakers, but more prominent than they should be. Secondly, there's a little too much driving/travel. To the game's defense, I was supposed to do some side quests that I skipped to get fast travel points, but there would still have been a lot of driving. Overall, the game was really fun and had some stressful/spooky moments.

Every year, I listen to a Christmas themed novel on Audible and this year, I just Googled "Christmas books" and looked through them. I randomly picked Christmas Shopaholic. I'm not sure why exactly because I've never read/listened to a book like this. This story is told from the perspective of a married woman, who has a young daughter. The vibes I got were almost like a romcom or a S*x and the City style sitcom. She's basically just narrating her life leading up to Christmas day and lots of funny/ironic things happen during this span. There's also some drama but the book stays away from dark themes for the most part and stays light hearted. I enjoyed this WAY more than I thought I would when I started it. Lol But I've never been opposed to a good chick flick/romcom. I think men would also enjoy this though.

We watched Home Sweet Home Alone last night. This is the 6th movie in the Home Alone franchise. Home Alone 1 and 2 are my favorite Christmas movies and 3 is good. The 4th and 5th movies are....skippable. I will proudly put this one up there with 1-3. It's genuinely funny, has a great cast, and it uses the original music from the 1st ones. Not only that.. This one is actually canon with 1 and 2! Which means this is the OFFICIAL Home Alone 3. This has the same setup as the others, which means it's basically a tower defense game. Lol I highly recommend this if you liked the originals.

I LOVED the first couple of Paranomal Activity movies. The last few have not been great. I was a little hesitant with this one when I saw the 22% on Rotten Tomatoes. We were pleasantly surprised, though! The story was coherent. There were lots of creepy and unsettling moments that stress you out. It's better than the 22% it currently has. I'd probably give it a 3.5/5. It's currently on Paramount+.

I had sort of heard of Dune throughout the years. There are video games and a 1984 film based on the novels. I've never tried any of it, so my watch was completely blind. No trailers either. I read that Star Wars took some inspiration from the book. This movie is what you get when you mix Star Wars and Game of Thrones and then sprinkle a little Lord of The Rings on top. Basically every nerd's fantasy. The story was very interesting if you don't mind a little slow movement due to this being the setup movie for the adventure. Lots of cool futuristic stuff and great fight scenes in this. Basically, if you're into huge sci-fi/high fantasy adventures, you're going to love Dune. The cast is A teir as well.

Watched Halloween Kills last night. The sequel to the 2018 Halloween movie. This one picks up right where the last one left off. This was a fun movie. I don't find slasher films scary, they're just fun. And I love Halloween (the holiday) movies in general, so this was a fun watch. We got so annoyed through the whole movie at how absolutely stupid all the people are in this film, though. Complete morons. All of them. Lol But I think that might be on purpose because all the classic slasher films have dumb af victims. Anyways, good watch! It's on Peacock if you don't want to go to a theater.

Finished Mike Flanagan's latest masterpiece, . This was a very slow burn. The show did a great job of showing how culty religion can be, especially if it's in a small town. There was a little too much religious jargon throughout, but it was the tone they were trying to set, that these people's entire lives and existence revolve around the church. That's pretty spooky by itself. The actual horror of the show was so uniquely done. It takes an age-old concept and completely flips it in a new way. I wouldnt call this scary as much as I would call it unnerving. The religious pressure just made every scene uncomfortable, which meant the horror aspect hit a little harder. I disliked a couple of the characters in this show so much that I have to applaud their acting. I wish there would have been hidden ghosts like the last 2 shows Mike did, but I can see why they were left out.

Watched the 2018 Venom the other night. A lot of ppl said it was a bad movie and I'm not sure why. I may have some bias because I love Spiderman and the Spiderman villains are my favorites, but I still thought it was good. I wasn't expecting it to basically be a comedy. I don't remember Venom being that funny in the 90s cartoon. It was a little corny at times, but I still enjoyed it. I'm glad that he will eventually be part of the MCU. 3.5/5.

Watched last night. This is a direct sequel to the 1992 movie. I recommend at least watching a synopsis of the first one on YouTube, but they do recap in the movie if you choose to skip that. Jordan Peele is going to go down as a horror legend. He's 3 for 3 on movies now. All his movies have an underlying message and this one is no different. This move was very spooky and makes me want to get rid of all the mirrors in my house. Lots of subtle horror, which I LOVE. I don't like in your face horror. I like the subtle thing in the background that you could miss if you're not paying attention and this movie does that well. I like how, unlike the 1992 movie, Candyman doesn't really talk or stay on screen for long. You just know he's looming in the background, waiting to strike. I wish they would have used the original actor, , but they pay him some homage. Great movie! 4/5.

Watched last night. I went in blind, like always, and I was pleasantly surprised. For about 2/3 of the movie, I didn't know which direction it was going. I blame my film class that I took in college for kind of ruining movies for me, because I know things to look for and notice things that, as the viewer, I'm not supposed to notice. This one threw me off my game for a minute, but I eventually figured out the twist before they showed it. On 1 hand, it's kinda fun to solve the puzzle, but on the other, the reveal was less intriguing. It was a very unique horror concept and had some unnerving moments. I was a little annoyed with the "it was just my imagination" thing at first, but it only happened once, luckily. James Wan continues to be my favorite horror director! 4/5.

Finished my 37th game of 2021, Kholat. This game is a horror walking simulator. If you don't know what a walking sim is, its a game that has no combat or anything. You just walk around and interact with things to progress the story.

This one is based on a very interesting true story where 9 Russian hikers mysteriously died while out in the snowy mountains. They found the bodies with various different things wrong like missing their eyes, tongue, and eye brows. They fled from their tents bare footed and not dressed for the snow. They still don't know what happened. If you want to research this, look up "The Dyatlov Pass Incident".

When it comes to this game, you are walking around in the snowy mountains with supernatural beings popping up every now and then that will kill you if they see you. The story in the game is very very vague, but on the plus side, it's narrated by the great Sean Bean. I don't like the map and compass thing. The map is a regular mad instead of a video game map that tells you where you are. I got lost so many times and walked around in circles. But maybe that's what they wanted, for you to feel like those Russian hikers...

Finished my 34th game of 2021. The original . I played on the PS3 collection, so the game had save states. These were great except when the game glitched a few times and I had to redo things. This is a somewhat janky 3rd person stealth game with your typical military Spec Ops storyline. Aside from some bugs and glitches, I had fun with it! 3.5/5.

Finished my 32nd game of 2021, Megaman 2. I had this game CIB when I was little and played it a lot, but never finished it. It's about time! After finally finishing 2 of these games, I'm officially a fan of this series. Lol
