Warren City Schools officially hires new athletic director
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Rick Shepas was unanimously approved as the new Athletic Director by the Warren City School District on Friday.
He will start his new position on July 1.
Shepas brings four decades of experience as a coach and athletic director to Warren.
The 1983 Cardinal Mooney graduate previously worked for the Youngstown City Schools where he served as chief of performance and athletics for Chaney and Youngstown East.
Shepas also brings extensive coaching experience to the position with stops at Youngstown State University, Poland Seminary High School, Seneca Valley High School, Massillon Washington High School, and Waynesburg University.
“Rick Shepas has a long-standing history of taking programs to a higher level of performance in
support of student athletes, which is exactly what I believe we need at this moment in time for children in the City of Warren,” Superintendent/CEO Steve Chiaro said.
According to a release from the Warren City Schools, Shepas’ immediate goals as athletic director include evaluating existing programs for advancement, collaborating with community feeder programs to strengthen the alignment between the community programs and the District, and exploring the possibility of adding a wrestling program to Warren.
Shepas replaces William Nicholson who has spent over a decade as the Athletic Director and has accepted another position in the District.
