A towering facade of a 19th-century church overlooks Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Well before the movement of Czech and Mexican immigrants to the region, German immigrants moved to the area for its proximity to major transport routes. 99 years after its construction, much of this Lutheran church used by the German community burned down, and was knocked over by a windstorm.
