When you study your Bible are you surveying the context of the book you're reading? What do the immediate verses say? What does the chapter say? How does that flow with the book as a whole, of the testament (New or Old), then the entire Bible? Books of the Bible are not disparate pieces, they are parts of the whole. The revelation of God, among other things, are developed through the entirety of Scripture. So take time and study on your topic or thought throughout the whole Bible not just the few verses that surround it. You'll be amazed what the Spirit can reveal to you. Blessings!!

If you want some basic essentials for Bible study, you need a good study Bible. You can get them fairly cheap online. A concordance, Strong’s is a good go to. Also you can get free Bible programs online like E-sword or blue letter Bible.com. These will give you some helps in doing deeper Bible study. What are some of the tools you use in personal study time?
