Cars make everything fun! Including learning to read.

Try putting a few words in several spots along your road (we had this awesome road gifted to us but you can make your own road too - ours used to be drawn on a big Bristol board) and we used our tactile Montessori letter cards so the LO can trace the letter while making the sound as a pit stop!

Now drive the car on your road and at each word, drive across the letters sounding out each letter sound (this is drive slow) then practice blending (drive fast).

Add a few drops of food colouring to your ice cubes, stick a popsicle stick in each ( they’ll fall over so the sticks will come out slanted and that’s OK- your toddler won’t care, promise!)

Once frozen - just get some paper and they can go to work! Keeps them busy for a while as the ice melts.

To stretch the activity even longer, try it painting on different surfaces- cardboard, construction paper etc. This is also a great opportunity to talk about water in winter - freezing and thawing! ❄️💧
