Absolutely honored to spend morning practice with the coaches, staff, and players of the UTEP Miners football team—my alma mater! 🏈

Despite their current record, head coach Scotty Walden is winning where it counts: building a culture of champions, developing men of character, discipline, and purpose. Seeing firsthand the drive and spirit of this team was inspiring.

It reminded me of developing my soldiers in the Army! 🪖 🫡

Grateful for the chance to witness leaders investing in the lives of young men in my community.

If you are in El Paso and have never been to Desert Oak Barbecue... You are missing out on some amazing Central TX style BBQ!!

We went to their new location today, by Cowtown Boots and OMG, it was amazing...

Did I mention they were featured by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives ?!?!

Brisket, Carolina style pulled pork, spicy sausage, pork ribs, smoked turkey, awesome sides, and on weekends...

1.5 lbs Beef Ribs (Dino Rib).

So good it will make your tongue slap your brains out.

5 years ago, while we were in the middle of inprocessing Sergeants Major Course Class 70, the worst massacre to ever happen in El Paso took place when a brainwashed coward drove hundreds of miles to gun down innocent unarmed civilians. I won't even mention his name, but hope the great State of Texas will execute him soon...

Instead, I will focus on the memory of:

1. those lost, grandparents, women, and children.

2. the amazing first responders and medical personnel who surged to save so many people.

3. The amazing community who came together to help those affected and their families, donating blood, money, and food to meet the needs.

It really hits home again, as now our son Josh is the AP Manager at that same Super responsible for the security, safety, and loss prevention of that store.

We must stand against evil, and be ready to help whenever the situation arises.

We're excited to share about a unique opportunity Melissa has been given to serve as a subject matter expert with the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI)! This journey began several months ago when she applied for this position. A few weeks ago, she learned that I was selected!

This is a great volunteer opportunity to hone her craft and love for all things human resources management! Even better, it is an excellent opportunity to network with other human resource professionals, learn more about the vast career field of HR, and grow professionally while giving back to the profession.

She owes credit to Onward to Opportunities (O2O) and Laura Butler, who served as her mentor during this veteran military transition program, where she earned her certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
