As you change all your clocks make sure to also change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Working smoke alarms are vital in the event of a fire so be sure they are in great working order. If your alarms are over ten years old, replace them with new ones!

The boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice. There has been speculation on some social media posts that f***l matter has infiltrated the City water system. This is absolutely FALSE. The boil water advisory is due to a mechanical failure. That failure caused turbidity levels to rise above what is acceptable by State Department of Health guidelines. Turbidity is a measurement of cloudiness in the water. The Water Department now has turbidity levels back to normal ranges. However, State DOH requires sampling and testing of the water before lifting the advisory. We understand the inconvenience this causes and ask for your patience until the advisory is lifted. We will continue to update residents as information becomes available. Thank you.

From Hornell HPG: For those who do not know, you can sign up for the Code Red system in order to receive important updates from the City of Hornell. This automated phone service provides City officials a direct line of communication with residents.

Due to a mechanical failure at the Water Filtration Plant a boil water advisory will be in effect for all water customers until further notice.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.

A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of Steuben County through 445 AM EDT.

At 406 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Whitesville, or 7 miles southeast of Wellsville, moving northeast at 45 mph.

Locations impacted include... Corning, Hornell, Bath, Campbell, Urbana, Canisteo, Caton, Lindley, Wayland and Painted Post.
