Source code leak and what means for you and me
Hello all,

As many of you have likely seen, there was a post made on Twitter explaining that the source code for some valve games have been leaked:

Source code for both CS:GO and TF2 dated 2017/2018 that was made available to Source engine licencees was leaked to the public today.… https://t.co/ZldzkIegrN"

What does this mean for you and I? For now, all of us should avoid playing either game until known exploits have been fixed. There are rumors of Remote Code Ex*****on exploits in the wild. Here's a video of an alleged exploit being used:

Can I play offline/local?

Hold off for now we do not know all the details and with no official statement from valve we do not know how at risk you are

Is it the same deal with CSGO/GMOD?

Yes all source games I would avoid playing online there as well.

Can I still trade?

Avoid servers (even community ones). Due to the current situation I would day trading is ok but be very cautious.

Should I private my steam profile?

If you aren't playing on any multiplayer servers you are not at risk

Should I uninstall tf2 or other games?

No that won't be be necessary as long as you are off you should be ok

I was playing earlier am I in danger?

Hard to tell. Most likely no you should be fine. Just stay off.

Has anyone been hacked?

As far as my knowledge goes no I have not seen anything happen. Not playing is a precaution just in case

I've seen pictures going around am I in danger?

Take everything you see with a grain of salt. It is hard to tell what is legit and just a rumor
