that families spend more than 400 hours a year in the kitchen!?

For me it's probably double 😅

We love spending time with the kids in the kitchen, talking about their day at school, and serving them yummy homemade snacks.

But kitchens aren't always the most kid-friendly...think hot stoves and knife blocks.

Here are my top three tips on what works for us, and how to make your kitchen more kid-friendly...

1⃣ Create a corner that's designed just for them
Just like I have my favorite mixing bowls and gadgets, having a space in the kitchen with things they're familiar with (and are safe) is a great idea. Consider using a lower cabinet space to store things like utensils and kids' kitchen gear (IKEA has some great options!).

2⃣ Add a chalkboard or chalkboard wall
Chalkboards are a fun way for the kids to draw their favorite foods and practice writing grocery lists like the adults! A standalone chalkboard works just as well as a section of a wall painted in chalkboard paint, but make sure they know that they can't use the chalk on other walls.

3⃣ Keep a step stool handy
Depending on your kid's age, they may need a little vertical support to get to eye level with your counters or food in the fridge. Invest in a plastic step stool so they can help you with cooking or grabbing ingredients.

What is your favorite dish to cook with your kids? Drop it in the comments, I'm always looking for new ideas! 👇
