Episode 18 – Sheepdogs

In April 2020, four Houston police officers were involved in an officer-involved shooting, which resulted in the death of Nicolas Chavez. After the incident, a number of internal and external review organizations found that the shooting was justified. Despite the finding that the shooting was justified, Houston police chief, Art Acevado, fired all four officers in September 2020.

In this episode, host Mike Knox, is joined by Doug Griffith, president of the Houston Police Officers Union who was on scene that evening. The two discuss the recent reinstatement of the four officers and events that unfolded that evening.

Episode 15 – Harris County Judge (part 3)

Host, Mike Knox, sits down with two of the remaining candidates for Harris County Judge in the upcoming March 2022 Republican Primary – Warren Howell and Oscar Gonzales.

Warren Howell is a Houston businessman and president of Employers Risk Insurance, which provides commercial general lines insurance coverage to a number of companies in Texas. He is a lifelong resident of Harris County and began his business career in 1971. Over the years, he has worked as a general contractor in Meyerland, Bellaire, West University, Riveroaks, Tanglewood and Memorial, began a metal roofing manufacturing company, and started an oil field tubular supply company which employed more than 100 people. In 1990, he started Risk Management Inc. With the help of 8 Certified Safety Professionals, the company has since provided Safety and HR manuals, conducted OSHA safety audits, and 24-hour consultation to over 2,500 companies in four states. Oscar Gonzales is a retired Harris County deputy sheriff who previously served the citizens of Harris County for 30 years. Over the course of his career, Oscar worked in the jail system, the patrol division – where he was able to interact with everyday citizens, the Executive Board, narcotics division, and in the Harris County courts. In addition to his service as a deputy, Oscar served on the board for the Mexican American Sherriff’s Organization and the Harris County Deputies Organizations where he formed a number of strong relationships within the law enforcement community across the county. Episode 14 – Harris County Judge (part 2)

Host, Mike Knox, sits down with three more candidates for Harris County Judge in the upcoming March 2022 Republican Primary – Vidal Martinez, Martina Lemond Dixon, and Robert Dorris.

Vidal Martinez is a highly respected attorney, speaker, and author who began his career in 1978 as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Houston with the U.S. Department of Justice. Since 1981, Vidal has been engaged in private practice handling primarily litigation, regulatory, and transactional matters. In 2001-2002, Vidal was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas. In 2008, he received the prestigious Reynaldo G. Garza Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Bar. Vidal has also received the Five Outstanding Young Houstonians and the Five Outstanding Young Texans awards from the Houston and Texas Jaycees. He was appointed by former Texas Governor Bill Clements to the University of Houston Board of Regents and also served as Vice-Chairman. Vidal has served on the Board of Directors at Houston Methodist Hospital System since 1992, which is ranked the #1 hospital in Texas. Martina Lemond Dixon is a third generation Houstonian and has lived in Kingwood for 22 years. Martina has a BA in Communications from Auburn University, a Post Baccalaureate in Construction Management, and an MA in Education from LSU. Martina serves as the board president for the Humble ISD School Board, the Assistant Secretary for the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors where she represents 24 school districts and four community college systems in Harris County, and is an active member of the community, including service as a board member at the Lake Houston Family YMCA and leadership class president for the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce. Robert Dorris is a lifetime resident of Houston and grew up working in the electrical construction industry where he learned how to work, talk, and interact with anybody and everybody. In his current role as a marketing manager with a large regional construction company, Robert has gained experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and completing projects on time and on budget. Robert can identify with many in Houston, having lost his job during the Great Recession and having his home flooded during Hurricane Harvey, only to wait for puts to try to put it back together. Randy Kubosh is a true Republican with an established record of service in Harris County. He served as a precinct chair and former secretary of the Harris County Republic Party Finance Committee, as well as president of the Downtown Houston Pachyderm Club.
