Grade 12 Indomitable Stallionsโ screams filled Angeles City Science High Schoolโs covered court as they clutch a nerve-wracking overall win against their lower counterparts in ACSciโs Intramurals 2024, awarded last Monday after the schoolโs flag ceremony.
With a final score of 230 points, Stallions closely gaited over the Grade 10 Vicious Dragons and Grade 11 Devouring Wolves as the first runners-up and second runners-up, with each having 220 and 195 points respectively.
Awarded first as the queens of chess, Gabrielle Fame Fabian and Maria Dannize Anne San Diego bagged bronze and gold respectively, starting the momentum for the Stallionsโ victorious run.
Maintaining the Grade 12 high for table tennis, Christian Ivan Cunanan was hailed champion for menโs singles, while Jan Jaz Monica Sumastre and Casey Camille Cruz settled for silver in womenโs doubles after falling short from the Vicious Dragonsโ Shane Margarette Atienza and Akemi Julia Beltran.
Meanwhile, Nikhaela Dizon stomped over the competition defeatless with a gold in womenโs singles in badminton, while her male counterpart, Robert Dominique Chico fearsomely put a valiant effort with a silver medal after getting the short end of the stick against the Ferocious Tigersโ champion, Jacob Manalo.
Another bronze medal was added to the Stallionsโ saddle as the womenโs volleyball team, consisting of Nicole Pineda, Sophia Espana, Jossaine Cunanan, Mariel Lazaro, Narelyn Tingson, Nicole Manson, Jersey De Ness, Kate Ellorde, Jera Enriquez, Heart Flores, Maxine Reyes, Chelsea Velasquez, and Faith Velasquez, courageously grappled against champions from the Ferocious Tigers and second runners-up from the Vicious Dragons; team captain Nicole Pineda was also awarded as part of Mythical Six later on.
The lower batches also failed to hold their horses, as the Stallionsโ menโs basketball team set Lourdes Sur Eastโs basketball court ablaze with a gold medal, with Neil Andrew Baluyut being hailed as ACSciโs basketball MVP, and Ysheia Gundayao being awarded as the best point forward; among the athletes that also brought pride to the 12th grade are Renmark Roxas, Antoine Suller, Justin Sarmiento, Ernesto II Punzalan, Ivan Villanueva, Matt Yuso, Adonis Quirante, Jillian Policarpio, Lucas Bondoc, and Joshua Balilu.
Alongside athletes, ACSciโs Mr. and Ms. Intramurals, basketball MVP Andrew Baluyut and Cyrene Gaebrielle David brought honor to the Stallionsโ standing, pushing the batch to a sure victory.
According to Grade 12 Representative Lexterovi Sigua, the key to the success of their batch was the initiative and commitment of everyone involved, emphasizing the skills, creativity, and dedication of everyone, organizers, and athletes, coming together to be united by a common goalโthe triumph.
โWorking with my co-batch representative, Lexterovi, was essential to properly organize projects and committees that supported our batch during the intramurals. Despite only knowing the basics of the sport I represented, which is table tennis, I made sure to give my best effort in training, pushing myself to play at my fullest potential to bring pride to my batchmates,โ Grade 12 Representative and Athlete Monica Sumastre added.
As the dust of the battle den settles, the now-peaceful animals return to their natural habitatsโthe classrooms.
