The General Robert H. Hatton Camp, Lebanon, Tennessee just finished a 10 day recruitment campaign at the Tennessee State Fair. Thousands of people saw our representation there. Hundreds stopped by to give donations, buy Confederate items, and to thank us for being there and representing our Southern Heritage. We talked to several very interested potential members. We did genealogy work and found a couple of folks with Confederate ancestors that wanted to join. We also made a few thousand dollars with our caramel corn fundraiser. Everything was very positive and encouraging. A very successful event for the camp and the SCV.

Hey ChatHeads Moose here. Wanted to apologize for no Look Around the last two weeks. Between work and my duties in the SCV I have not stopped for a second. With that being said no episodes is unacceptable. We will be getting back in the swing of things this upcoming week. On the bright side I did get to have a great experience yesterday speaking to camp 227. LEAD THE CHARGE!!

I had a phenomenal time visiting the Jones County Rosin Heels Camp 227 yesterday for their meeting. I had the privilege of talking to them about my SCV FIRST philosophy. They have agreed to join me in showing everybody that working together works. Showing working the differences, working together, not tearing each other down, not letting personal feelings get in the way of our mission, working together with other camps, and focusing on solo projects, if you can’t work with someone. We all have something to give to the SCV. Instead of focusing on negativity, let’s get to work. The camps are the backbone of the SCV. Let’s show the world why we do what we do. LEAD THE CHARGE GENTLEMEN!!!

The inaugural Carl and Nancy Ford Southern Culture, History, and Heritage Educational Conference was a success, and a great event. We laughed, learned, and enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to next year. It was great to see Carl and Ryan again. We hope to have them both on the show soon! Education is key in the war for our heritage.

Conference is rolling along nicely. We have H. Grady Howell talking about the Mississippi Rifles. The Mississippi Rifles were commanded by Jefferson Davis during the Mexican War. Southern history is more than 1861-1865.

The General Robert H. Hatton Camp in Lebanon, Tennessee once again will be participating in the Tennessee State Fair in Lebanon beginning this Thursday, August 15 thru August 24. We will have our recruiting booth and our Caramel Corn fundraising sales actively participating at the fair for 10 days where we see and talk to thousands of people about the SCV and our honored heritage. We are located at the entrance to the historic Fiddlers Grove area of the fairgrounds. If you are at the fair come by and say "Hi."

REMINDER!!! PREREGISTER NOW!!! LET’S EDUCATE MISSISSIPPI!!!!

The inaugural Carl and Nancy Ford Southern Culture, History and Heritage Education Conference is quickly approaching. The conference is scheduled for August 17, 2024, at the McKenzie Arena at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS. Registration is $40.00 and payable at the door. Registration will include a catered lunch from Momma Hammil’s. Registration is available on the Division website https://www.mississippiscv.org/heritage-conference-registration. This event is open to the public and we are encouraging ALL historians of whatever age or gender to attend. The address, list of speakers and planned start time are on the attached flyer. Please PREREGISTER SO WE CAN PLAN FOR MEALS.

As many of our veteran compatriots remember, Past Division Commander Ford and Mrs. Nancy held a conference similar to this annually and we aim to continue this tradition in their memory.

This year’s conference with feature 4 great speakers covering various aspects of Southern History. Vendor booths for authors, SCV Camps, MOSB, SCV Camps, MOSB, OCR, and UDCS Chapters are available; please contact [email protected] for more information or if you are having trouble registering. We ask that everyone preregister using the website so we can get an accurate meal count. All proceeds will go towards the Heritage Operations fund for the Division.
