✨ A Culinary Symphony at Flames Restaurant, Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg ✨

We experienced a remarkable evening at Flames, with dishes that reflect the soul of South African flavours, crafted by a stellar culinary team. Executive Chef Wesli Jacobs and Executive Sous Chef Katlego Mlambo are infusing Flames with new energy, drawing on locally sourced ingredients and global techniques to offer an elevated dining journey.

Our experience included:

🌊 Catch of the Day Ceviche – A vibrant starter featuring coconut cream and a squid ink sago cracker for a delightful mix of flavours and textures.

🍅 Beetroot Burrata – This creamy burrata with beetroot textures and aged balsamic brings a fresh yet decadent twist to the table.

💎 24-Carat Gold Fillet – A luxury like no other; this gold covered steak, is flamed table side and is a delight!

🍖 Karoo Lamb Saddle – South African tradition with a twist, featuring chakalaka and ras el hanout-spiced carrots, a creation that speaks to the heart of South African flavors.

🍮 Vanilla Crème Brûlée – Classic yet unique, with strawberry gel and berry salsa adding a touch of freshness.

🍫 Dark Chocolate Banana Fudge Cake – A rich and decadent dessert, with smoked dark gelato and spiced banana caramel.

Chef Katlego’s journey is deeply rooted in South African heritage, shaped by his early culinary experiences in his grandmother’s kitchen, where food was a source of joy and connection. Recognized with the Nederburg Rising Star award, he brings an innovative spirit and local pride to each dish, while Chef Wesli’s style reflects a tapestry of global inspiration, transforming local ingredients into opulent, memorable creations.

Indulging in Mediterranean flavours and tapas-style plates at 🍽️🌿

From the fall-off-the-bone short rib to the deliciously sauced braised leeks, every dish was a flavor explosion. The calamari was great and the halloumi chips added a unique twist.

There’s a new bagel spot in Senderwood! 🥯

📍13 Chaucer Rd, Senderwood

Delicious bagels served fresh daily! We had the BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) and the Bamboo (smoked trout, cream cheese, ginger, wasabi, mayo and soya sauce). Both were superb.

On Fridays they also serve burgers (in bagels 🥯)

Be sure to give them a try!

is launching a brand new menu at their on-site restaurant Dos Manos, and for the next two days they’ll be serving smaller samples of each menu item so that you can try everything out!

We had a few dishes and everything was delicious 🤤 We’re excited to go back and try the full menu when it launches 🥳

What we ate:

Frame 2 - Pablo Beef Slider (Rib-Eye & Chuck beef mince, black truffle, lobster, American cheddar, pickled chilli,Belgium pickles) ➡️ this mini burger was insanely good, keen to try the normal-sized version! 😍

Frame 3 - Tater Tots (with truffle and goats cheese aioli) ➡️ loved the crunch, and worked perfectly with the aioli

Frame 4 - Curry Butter Poached Sea Bass (curry leaf infused lemon garlic butter) ➡️ one of the best dishes we tried… the fish was so tender and flavourful

Frame 5 - Prawn Naćional (butter, garlic, lemon, cream, chorizo) ➡️ the sauce was delish!

Frame 6 & 7 - Lil Nicky and Jiggy Ziggy Pizza ➡️ Dos Manos is famous for their pizza, and they didn’t disappoint! The sweet spicyness of the Lil Nicky pizza was divine

Frame 8 - Cajun Calamari ➡️ crispy on the outside but tender on the outside, this dish is a winner!

Frame 9 - Baked Feta and Tomato Salad, Caprese Salad ➡️ fresh and delicious!
