Indulging in Mediterranean flavours and tapas-style plates at 🍽️🌿

From the fall-off-the-bone short rib to the deliciously sauced braised leeks, every dish was a flavor explosion. The calamari was great and the halloumi chips added a unique twist.

There’s a new bagel spot in Senderwood! 🥯

📍13 Chaucer Rd, Senderwood

Delicious bagels served fresh daily! We had the BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) and the Bamboo (smoked trout, cream cheese, ginger, wasabi, mayo and soya sauce). Both were superb.

On Fridays they also serve burgers (in bagels 🥯)

Be sure to give them a try!

is launching a brand new menu at their on-site restaurant Dos Manos, and for the next two days they’ll be serving smaller samples of each menu item so that you can try everything out!

We had a few dishes and everything was delicious 🤤 We’re excited to go back and try the full menu when it launches 🥳

What we ate:

Frame 2 - Pablo Beef Slider (Rib-Eye & Chuck beef mince, black truffle, lobster, American cheddar, pickled chilli,Belgium pickles) ➡️ this mini burger was insanely good, keen to try the normal-sized version! 😍

Frame 3 - Tater Tots (with truffle and goats cheese aioli) ➡️ loved the crunch, and worked perfectly with the aioli

Frame 4 - Curry Butter Poached Sea Bass (curry leaf infused lemon garlic butter) ➡️ one of the best dishes we tried… the fish was so tender and flavourful

Frame 5 - Prawn Naćional (butter, garlic, lemon, cream, chorizo) ➡️ the sauce was delish!

Frame 6 & 7 - Lil Nicky and Jiggy Ziggy Pizza ➡️ Dos Manos is famous for their pizza, and they didn’t disappoint! The sweet spicyness of the Lil Nicky pizza was divine

Frame 8 - Cajun Calamari ➡️ crispy on the outside but tender on the outside, this dish is a winner!

Frame 9 - Baked Feta and Tomato Salad, Caprese Salad ➡️ fresh and delicious!

How stunning are these cakes 😍

They’re the perfect accompaniment to a traditional tea ceremony which you can find at Tea and antique in Bedfordview.

Pictured here are a variety of Mung Bean Cakes with fillings like Red Bean paste and Peach and Oolong. There are also some delicate flower Palace Pastries… everything is just too pretty to eat! 🌸

And of course you have to try their amazing tea selection 🫖

💎 Hidden gem in Bedfordview: Miss C Confectionery

This cute little bakery serves the most delicious cakes and baked goods. They also have a few Asian-inspired goodies like cream-filled mochis and a variety of bubble teas. We tried:

🍽️ Biscoff Crepe Cake
🍽️ Brown Sugar Bubble Tea
🍽️ Christmas Cupcake
🍽️ Watermelon Cheeso
🍽️ Pineapple Mochi

Everything was delicious! Their crepe cakes are very popular, as well as their cream puffs which were sold out when we got there. Will definitely be back to try them out!

❗️New Restaurant Alert - Liberté Restaurant

Looking for French cuisine in Joburg? Then head on down to Liberté on Jan Smuts Avenue. They have classic French dishes on the menu, and the venue is small but elegantly designed.

The dishes we did try were very tasty… highly recommend the vol-au-vents and their mash is divine 😍

❗️New Restaurant in Rosebank - MAMASAMBA

The latest addition to the Rosebank foodie scene is the Latin American-style restaurant MAMASAMBA. It’s beautifully decorated, and the upstairs bar is the perfect spot for a few drinks. We tried a few of their starter dishes and were very impressed by the quality of the food…

🍽️ Passion Fruit Oysters - so fresh! Passion fruit could have been punchier though

🍽️ Salmon (but probably Tuna) Roses - their sushi quality is top notch. Fresh and melt-in-your-mouth. Just a bit confusing because we ordered salmon and I’m pretty sure we got served Tuna. The waiter insisted it was Salmon though 🙃

🍽️ Jalapeño and Corn Croquetas - so crisp with a yummy filling. A bit lacking in the corn though

🍽️ Pork Belly Chicharrones - wow! Those tiny pork cubes were delish. Super tender meat and a tasty sweet yet spicy sauce. The fat could have been rendered a bit crispier but otherwise they were divine!

🍽️ White Fish Ceviche - a tasty, refreshing dish. Could have had a bit more flavourful though

🍽️ Fired Street Corn - definitely the most surprising dish! The creamy sauce works so well with the corn, best you scoop it all up with every mouthful

🍽️ Beef Fillet Mole - the fillet was cooked perfectly! Super soft and tender, and the mole was an excellent sauce to go with it
