‼️warning some people may find this upsetting‼️
In the French catacombs lays a child named Rosalia Lombardo who died of pneumonia, resulting from the Spanish flu, one week before her second birthday. Rosalia Is particularly famous for her perfectly preserved body but even more famous as Visitors who come to see her swear that the little girl actually blinks here eyes.
It’s thought that changes in temperature inside the crypt causes her eyelids to contract producing the blinking effect. But Capuchin Catacombs’s curator, Dario Piombino-Mascali, has a different theory. Piombino-Mascali believes that Rosalia’s blinking eyes is an optical illusion caused by the angle at which the light from the windows strike her.

"Who put Bella down the Wych Elm?" is graffiti that appeared in 1944 following the 1943 discovery by four children of the skeletonised remains of a woman inside a wych elm in Hagley Wood, Hagley, in Worcestershire, England.
More than 75 years have passed since a woman’s skeleton was found stuffed inside a wych elm in world war II. To this day nobody really knows who Bella was and who put her there, theories of German spies and witchcraft rituals keep this local legend alive, and the strange and sinister tale of “Bella” still captivates armchair detectives today.

Did you know there are several bodies located at various points on mount everest? its simply to difficult and dangerous for authorities to remove the bodies. so they are left there, the serve as markers for the climbers and also warnings to remind climbers how unforgiving the mountain climate can be. However some the co**ses have become quite famous amongst climbers and have earned themselves nicknames

Green boots- sadly green boots has never officially been identified but he is believed to be Tsewang Paljor, an Indian climber who died on Everest in 1996. The term Green Boots originated from the green Koflach mountaineering boots on his feet.

David Sharp was attempting to summit Everest on his own. He had stopped to rest in Green Boots’ cave, as so many had done before him. Over the course of several hours, he froze to death, his body stuck in a huddled position. at least 40 people passed by Sharp that day and saw that we was in distress. Not one of them stopped.

George Mallory’s co**se was found 75 years after his 1924 death. Mallory had attempted to be the first person to climb Everest, but he disappeared before anyone found out if he had achieved his goal. His body was found in 1999, his upper torso, half of his legs, and his left arm almost perfectly preserved

Hannelore Schmatz she came the first german and first woman to perish on the mountain. Schmatz had actually reached her goal of summiting the mountain, before ultimately succumbing to exhaustion on the way down. Despite her Sherpa’s warning, she set up camp within the death zone.

Francys Arsentiev became the first woman from the United States to reach the summit of Mount Everest without the aid of bottled oxygen, on May 22, 1998. She then died during the descent. n the morning of May 23, Francys Arsentiev was encountered by an Uzbek team who were climbing the final few hundred meters to the summit. She appeared to be half-conscious, affected by oxygen deprivation and frostbite. As she was unable to move on her own, they attended to her with oxygen and carried her down as far as they could, until, depleted of their own oxygen, they became too tired to continue the effort. Francys was still alive.

‼️warning some may find the following description disturbing‼️
Posthumous ex*****on is the ritual or ceremonial mutilation of an already dead body as a punishment.
One of the most well known posthumous ex*****ons is of Oliver Cromwell.
He was Lord protector and ruler of the English Commonwealth after the defeat and beheading of King Charles I during the English civil War, he died on 3 September 1658 of natural causes and was given a public funeral at Westminster Abbey.
When Oliver Cromwell died in 1658, the republic fell into chaos. The executed monarch’s heir, Charles II, returned triumphantly from exile.
the new royalist parliament ordered the arrest of those responsible for Charles I’s trial and public beheading. Twelve regicides were apprehended, sentenced to death, hanged, drawn and quartered, disemboweled, decapitated, and dismembered.
However, Cromwell was already dead Cromwell’s body was exhumed from Westminster Abbey and publicly dragged through the streets of London to the Tyburn gallows at present-day Marble Arch. His co**se was strung up in chains until four o’clock that afternoon, then struck down and decapitated. Cromwell’s head was impaled on a twenty-foot pole and displayed in front of Westminster Hall, the place of Charles I’s trial and death sentence.
Cromwell’s head remained gruesomely displayed on a pike for about twenty years, until one day a storm blew it off.

William the conqueror was known to be a man of large size so when he died after his horse reared up during a 1087 battle, throwing the king against his saddle so forcefully that his intestines ruptured. An infection set in that killed him several weeks later. As priests tried to stuff William into a stone coffin that proved too small for his bulk, they pushed on his abdomen, causing it to burst. Mourners supposedly ran for the door to escape the putrid stench.

On this day, 20 years ago the most devastating terrorist attack to ever happened in the USA occurred. At 8:46 am a commercial airliner known as Flight 11 flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, NY.
Seventeen minutes later at 9:03 am, the World Trade Center's South Tower was hit by United Airlines Flight 175. Both 110-story towers collapsed within an hour and forty-two minutes, leading to the collapse of the other World Trade Center structures including 7 World Trade Center, and significantly damaging surrounding buildings.

A third flight, American Airlines Flight 77, flown from Dulles International Airport, was hijacked over Ohio. At 9:37 am, it crashed into the west side of the Pentagon (the headquarters of the American military) in Arlington County, Virginia, causing a partial collapse of the building's side. The fourth, and final flight, United Airlines Flight 93, was flown in the direction of Washington, D.C. The plane's passengers attempted to regain control of the aircraft away from the hijackers and ultimately diverted the flight from its intended target; it crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 10:03 am. Investigators determined that Flight 93's target was either the White House or the U.S. Capitol.

The hijackers were Islamic terrorists from Saudi Arabia and several other Arab nations. Reportedly financed by the al Qaeda terrorist organization of Saudi fugitive Osama bin Laden, they were allegedly acting in retaliation for America’s support of Israel, its involvement in the Persian Gulf War and its continued military presence in the Middle East.

Some of the terrorists had lived in the United States for more than a year and had taken flying lessons at American commercial flight schools. Others had slipped into the country in the months before September 11 and acted as the “muscle” in the operation.

The 19 terrorists easily smuggled box-cutters and knives through security at three East Coast airports and boarded four early-morning flights bound for California, chosen because the planes were loaded with fuel for the long transcontinental journey. Soon after takeoff, the terrorists commandeered the four planes and took the controls, transforming ordinary passenger jets into guided missiles.

A total of 2,996 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks, including the 19 terrorist hijackers aboard the four airplanes. Citizens of 78 countries died in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.

At the World Trade Center, 2,763 died after the two planes slammed into the twin towers. That figure includes 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City police officers and 37 Port Authority police officers who were struggling to complete an evacuation of the buildings and save the office workers trapped on higher floors.

At the Pentagon, 189 people were killed, including 64 on American Airlines Flight 77, the airliner that struck the building. On Flight 93, 44 people died when the plane crash-landed in Pennsylvania.

The attacks have not come with out conspiracy theories though, many thinking it was an inside job possibly done by its own government. What ever your belief is, there is no denying that aftermath have the attacks have been shattering and will certainly go down in history

Fritz Bajorat was sailor who went missing and was found dead on a yacht drifting in the Philippine Sea.
Local fisherman discovered the mummified co**se in 2016. The dead sailor was still seated at the desk by the radio in the 12-metre (40ft) yacht, slumped over on his right arm, when the fishermen found him.
The sailor had died of a heart attack at least 7 days before he was found, forensics experts explained a combination of tropical heat, dry wind and salty sea air can quickly preserve or mummify a co**se.

Aztec death whistles were first discovered by archaeologists in 1999.
But they were mistaken for toys and It took 15 years before someone actually blew that particular ancient instrument, which had been relegated to a museum shelf. The sound deeply rattled those who were there to hear it.
The death whistle was exclusively used in several zones of ancient Mexico, they have been associated with death rituals by its decorated face of a skull and with the wind because two examples were found in the hands of a sacrificed male skeleton in front of the Ehecatl (wind god) temple at Tlatelolco.
The death whistles are infamous for the high pitched screeching sound that animates from them.
It is thought they may have been reserved for sacrifices–perhaps to guide the soul to the afterlife–or for war, as some sort of psychological warfare, where the sound of hundreds of advancing whistles could surely unhinge Aztec opponents.

St Illtyd’s Church in Oxwich, Swansea , Wales is said that the site, on a wooded coastal hillside, has been used for Christian worship since the 6th century. The building we see here today is largely medieval. The tower and its bell date from the 14th century.

Inside you can see memorials from the 13th and 14th centuries. Near the altar are two effigies made of local sand and plaster. They occupy a recess known as “Doolamur’s Hole”. According to local tradition, the armed knight and his lady represent members of the De la Mere family of Oxwich Castle who drowned in Oxwich Bay in the early 14th century.

On each side of the porch are the tombstones of two local rectors in medieval times. One of the stones was discovered by the Victorians after it had been used as a step into the church for centuries.

At the rear of the churchyard is the grave of a Royal Navy serviceman whose identity was never discovered. His decomposed body washed ashore at Oxwich Bay in the First World War.

In the churchyard is dried up well traditionally held to be haunted. A ghostly 'water horse', or ceffyi dwr, was said to appear in the churchyard then vanish mysteriously in the well. At the rear of the churchyard is the poignant grave of a Royal Navy sailor whose body washed ashore during the First World War. He was never identified, and the gravestone inscription merely says, 'Known unto God'.

The Lebensborn project was one of most secret and terrifying N**i projects. Heinrich Himmler founded the Lebensborn project on December 12, 1935. The purpose of the project was to young girls who were deemed “racially pure” the possibility to give birth to a child in secret. The child was then given to the SS organization which took charge in the child’s education and adoption. Women were also encouraged to sleep with SS officers to create a***n children. An estimated 20,000 were born under the programme.

John Edward jones enjoyed spelunking. His father frequently took him and his brother, Josh, on caving expeditions in Utah when they were kids.
On the 24th of November 2009 John Edward Jones entered Nutty Putty Cave,Utah. along with nine other friends and family members they decided to explore Nutty Putty Cave as a way to connect with each other ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
About an hour into the expedition John decided to find the Nutty Putty Cave formation known as the Birth Canal, a tight passage that spelunkers must crawl through carefully if they dare. He found what he thought was the Birth Canal and slowly inched his way into the narrow passage head first, moving forward using his hips, stomach, and fingers. But within minutes, he realized he’d made a grave mistake. Sadly john got stuck. John was trapped 400 feet into the cave and 100 feet below the Earth’s surface. Although several people including emergency services tried rescuing john for over 24 hours it staryed to become obvious it would not be possible for john to make it out alive. The strain of being trapped eventually became to much for john and his body, he was pronounced dead of cardiac arrest shortly before midnight on the evening of Nov. 25.
Officials sealed off Nutty Putty Cave for good a week after John’s death. They never recovered his body, which remains inside to this day, for fear of more deaths that might result from such an operation.

Huang Yijun was a young woman from china who was pregnant for 60 years. In 1948 she found out she was pregnant but sadly she had an ectopic pregnancy and the baby did not survive. Usually in these types of pregnancies if the fetus is small enough the tissues will break down naturally and the body will remove the fetus its self. But in Huang's case the fetus was to large and huang could not accord the surgery to remove the fetus, eventually the fetus calcified over time coating it with a hard layer of calcium (like what we see in our bones) to enclose and isolate the possible hazard from spreading infection. Quite literally, the baby inside turned to stone. Huang carried the calcified baby for 60 years, eventually having it removed.

A mother and her daughter have been arrested for selling hundreds of body parts from their funeral home for medical research, often without the knowledge of the dead people's families.
Megan Hess, 43, and her mother, Shirley Koch, 66 ran Sunset Mesa Funeral Directors in Denver from 2010 to 2018.
Hess and Koch first came under investigation in 2017 after it emerged that, as well as funeral and cremation services, the funeral home was running another company in the building that offered up body parts for research and lab testing. It is alleged that the duo offered affordable cremations to grieving families for around $1,000 but in many cases the cremation would never occur and, if a family did receive remains, it was often not of their loved ones.
The women also were alleged to have sold diseased body parts through a non-profit body brokerage business, which they also owned.

‼warning graphic description below‼
Route 66 in the USA has been heavily romanticized and seems to hold the essence of the American dream.
The idea behind the “Mother Road” was to connect urban and rural America from Chicago all the way to Los Angeles, crossing eight states and three time zones.

Sadly the road was not safe for everyone, the Chicago Tribune suggested in an editorial on August 29, 1925, that black people avoid recreational sites altogether. They said in the newspaper
" We should be doing no service to the Negroes if we did not point out that to a very large section of the white population the presence of a Negro, however well behaved, among white bathers is an irritation. This may be a regrettable fact to the Negroes, but it is nevertheless a fact, and must be reckoned with … [T]he Negroes could make a definite contribution to good race relationship by remaining away from beaches where their presence is resented.

Route 66 started out in Illinois, a state that itself had nearly 150 sundown towns. The road certainly did not mean freedom for everyone, and it bore witness to some of the nation’s worst acts of racial terrorism.

Take, for example, one violent night in 1906 in Springfield, Missouri, which would soon become the birthplace of Route 66; though the road starts out in Chicago, the route was officially designated as “66” in Springfield. During a grisly lynching on Easter weekend, a vigilante white mob dragged Horace Duncan and Fred Coker to the town square, hanged them, burned their bodies while thousands watched, and then distributed their body parts among the crowd as keepsakes.

On Route 66, every mile was a minefield. Businesses with three “K”s in the title, such as the Kozy Kottage Kamp or the Klean Kountry Kottages, were code for the Ku Klux Klan and only served whites. Black motorists of course also had to avoid sundown towns like Edmond, Oklahoma.
