Humbled and honored to have known dear Kevin Locke and been touched by his spirit and life. May we rededicate our time and energy to working towards and establishing the oneness of humanity, a reality that we will always associate with him.

Love this immensely beautiful children's book titled "Dawn Flight" that Kevin wrote. Here is the summary: "Long ago, when a great flood cleansed the land of unhappiness, the Grandfather sent Wanjblí the eagle to save one virtuous member of the human race and teach her how to live a good life. The eagle is a powerful symbol of courage, wisdom, and strength. In Kevin’s book he shares an inspiring vision of unity and hope for a new generation teaching children to recognize the eagle in themselves and others and always to soar above the darkness into the light."

Amari de siete años vive con sus padres y hermana bebé en el apartamento de la esquina del edificio llamado McCallister. Es el verano del 2020 y, así como los niños alrededor del mundo, él está viviendo a través de una pandemia mundial. Mientras que él sabe que tiene suerte de estar con su familia, algunos días se aburre y extraña su vida normal. Durante todos los cambios, Amari realiza pequeños actos de bondad por sus vecinos. Como resultado, él surge como una luz guía de la unidad en su edificio.

Aunque Amari no puede hacer algunas de las actividades que siempre ha hecho, se conecta de nuevos modos con las las personas que viven en su edificio, como enseñarle a una niña a leer por videoconferencia, llamar a un vecino mayor todos los días para compartir un chiste, cocinar para una familia que ha perdido su trabajo, y más. Y sus vecinos también están ayudando a otros– compartiendo vegetales de su jardín, ayudando a los niños a entender cómo quedarse físicamente distante, e inclusive trabajando en el desarrollo de una vacuna contra el COVID-19. Parece que todo el mundo está encontrando maneras de cuidarse el uno del otro.

Debido a que Amari y sus vecinos están pensando más que en sí mismos, una cultura de reciprocidad y cooperación ha surgido durante este tiempo desafiante. Nuestra esperanza es que al leer acerca de Amari y su vecinos del McCallister, se vea a sí mismo y a su vecindario en sus historias, y también que obtenga algunas ideas nuevas acerca de las acciones que puede tomar para llevar la poderosa luz de la unidad en su rincón del planeta.
