These monsters are receiving medical treatment at the same Israeli hospitals as the survivors of these massacres.

Why?
Because unlike them, who celebrate death we will always celebrate life.

🔸Sukkot! What are the four kinds of species? What do they represent and what do we do with them?

🔸This is one of my favourite holidays because we delve into the different kinds of Jews. Being different is good - and it should be what unites us and not divides us. Often I used to feel inadequate in how much I knew about Judaism. Today I know that every kind of Jew is the right kind of Jew, and they’re essential to the fabric of Judaism - the unity of the Jewish people. No matter your knowledge or your level observance - you ARE enough … To paraphrase the Baal Shem Tov (see the slide), a sincere heart is more powerful than a choreographed routine.

Never did I imagine that the Jewish experience that I started documenting on social media last year would have this kind of impact. 10,000+ followers on IG, thousands of messages of support and how this account has changed your lives, your views; how it caused you to feel proud of your Jewish identity and allowed you to feel welcome by a Judaism that is authentic, traditional and embracing of you - just the way you are.

Happy Aliyaversary! It is hard to believe that 13 years have passed. Being a wanderer my whole life, my family would move from country to country, city to city, Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Vienna, Rome, NY, Portland - I never felt I was able to grow any roots.

In 2007, I came on a trip to Israel for Jewish youth and got to experience something I never got to growing up. The moment I landed in Ben Gurion, I knew at that moment that this was home. This was the home I never had.

In 2010, I made Aliyah with the help of and I will be forever grateful. This was truly the best decision of my life! It was truly a homecoming moment.

We lost our homeland because of bases hatred toward one another. Today, on Tisha B’Av, I’m in Basel and reminded of the dream that became a reality, where Herzl stood looking over the river, with a dream that one day we could return to our homeland, righting a wrong that took place on this day.

May we always remember to love each other even if we don’t agree with one another, because the moment we won’t, we stand to lose everything.

Baseless hatred (Sin’at ħinam) is the reason we commemorate Tisha B’Av. Today, there is more hatred between us then ever. We need to remind ourselves that no matter what, we will overcome the differences between us - as long as we stand united, b’Ahavat Yisrael.

We need to address the elephant in the room: Cultural Appropriation of Judaism and Jewish Identity.

I’m all for freedom of religious expression but I have to draw the line at cultural appropriation; taking something that is so central and sacred to Jewish identity and misappropriating it. Why is this an issue? Because unlike some religions, Judaism is a closed practice. Read slides to learn more.

Lately there is a growing trend of individuals and social media personalities trying on Jewish garb or misusing items that are intended for Jewish religious practice. This needs to be called out because it needs to stop.

My son’s brit mila (aka circumcision) was an emotional one for me. As painful as it was for both of us, it was a joyous day as well. I was overwhelmed by the unique privilege of entering my son into the covenant with Hashem that started with Avraham Avinu (Abraham, Our Forefather).

I would like to thank for for making this very special moment for us all the more special.

On the eve of Holocaust Remembrance in Israel, I’m reminded of the obligation that I have as a Jew. I’m reminded of the ultimate price others paid for the sole reason that they were Jews. I’m reminded of their struggle, their resistance by simply staying alive another day whilst their enemies sought their demise. I’m reminded of their last wish, that we never forget them, never forget who they were or what they were.

Following the birth of my second child, I’m overwhelmed with emotions thinking the small contribution I’ve made in ensuring the continuation of the Jewish people, another generation that will learn about our past and carry their memory into the future. Every Jewish life that comes into this world is a victory over those that hate us. It is a testament to our perseverance, our commitment to being a light unto the nations.

Often, big wars are won with small victories. We must never forget our obligation to them, never forget who we are, never forget their memory.
