Liminal Space at Costco, by Rebecca Payne 🎨 Swipe to see the full collection and the inspiration behind these pieces.

Rebecca Payne (they/she), is a q***r rural artist who is trained in painting, drawing and printmaking. They have a fascination with liminal spaces and parting with fleeting moments that will evidently pass and may never happen the same way again. Their current work explores themes of loneliness, awkwardness and atmospheres within transitional spaces and the mutual exchange between the artist and the environment.

Late one night in her Maryland home, Sarina Desir got a message from her producer Cherry Beatz to start working on another song. With little direction, she laid down a few vocals on top of a beat and sent it back to him as a joke, not knowing that he would love it and it would soon grow to be her single ‘Kiwi’....

By Hediye Usta Turkey is one of the top countries when it comes to femicides. In fact, discrimination and violence against women, including femicides, have risen drastically. The Turkish government has abandoned the Istanbul Convention, which was designed to protect women from male violence. We do not accept this decision, and we want the Istanbul Convention and law no 6284 to be effectively implemented....

I was twelve when I learned the word “endometriosis." I could hardly pronounce it, let alone understand the pain that comes with such a heavy, suffocating diagnosis. Endometriosis is described as when "the tissue similar to the lining inside the uterus (called the endometrium), is found outside the uterus, where it induces a chronic inflammatory reaction that may result in scar tissue,” according to the…...

🌻Call for Submissions!🌻

We are collabing with and in making an e-zine!❤️

——————————————

Calling all creators in Peel Region!! We are looking for submissions for a digital zine to showcase and highlight collective visions of climate justice and abolition in Peel Region. Art is a powerful tool for processing our reflections and imagining the futures we want to create:

What visions do you have for abolition and climate justice in Peel?

How have we been looking after each other and our communities?

How have you been processing and dealing with grief from police violence? What brings you solace in these times?
What are your visions for housing justice in the suburbs?

How can we bridge abolition and climate justice work?

How is q***r and trans liberation tied to abolition and climate justice?

What does solidarity between Indigenous, Black and communities of colour look like in the suburbs?

We are accepting submissions of all kinds:

Illustrations, posters, photography, comics, diary notes, and other visual art mediums

Written submissions to be less than 1000 words

Acceptable formats: MS Word, PDF, JPEG, PNG

Submissions can be in various languages!

If you wish to submit anonymously or use a pseudonym, please indicate in email.

We especially encourage all QTBIPOC (Q***r, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color) creators to submit!

Please note: We will be accepting a total of 13 submissions. Each person whose submission is included in the final zine will receive an honorarium of $50.

welcome to trick's film discussion of black panthers!

we're so excited to hear your thoughts on this film, and we hope you enjoyed the screening.

here's a list of questions that we've come up with that can help launch us into a discussion, feel free to answer any of them. we'd also love if you simply shared your thoughts on the film. whatever you're comfortable with! :-)

1. Why do you think the BPP was such a revolutionary movement?

2. Do you agree with the idea of ‘gun control’? Who is gun control protecting if it's disarming communities and arming the state?

3. What are your thoughts on the idea of taking up arms as a necessary action to counter oppressive institutions?

4. Why do you think the state/media vilifies revolutionary movements like the Black Panther Party?

5. The Black women in the film were speaking about their journey toward embracing their natural hair, and how when they began to accept their non-eurocentric features as beautiful, others began to aswell. They mentioned how white women started wanting to wear their hair like that too. Why is it necessary for us to be aware of the history of cultural appropriation?
