BFR will be joining & for the campus organizing for abortion access event to discuss the history of reproductive justice and how young people can get join the fight for reproductive freedom!

Today is my one year ACCESS-versary!!! Being an board member has been such an integral part of my experience living in California.
Since joining the board I’ve been able to meet amazing Reproductive justice advocates like my board buddy 💜! I’ve also been able host a live podcast event and was voted as the Board Vice-Chair!
Below are some highlights of the important work ACCESS is doing:
✨ACCESS supported 841 callers in 2022, providing $185,000 in funding
✨ 32% of our callers are out of state callers
✨ ACCESS is California’s only stand-alone abortion fund and practical support organization

Camryn Jackson, our Research and Content Writing Intern, presented a poster on her work with Black Feminist Rants at the annual Roe Anniversary event.
Camryn is an integral part of the team who drafts our fact sheets to ensure all of our content is accurate and up to date. Misinformation is a huge issue in discussions around abortion and reproductive justice which is why Camryn and her work is so important to the team!
Camryn is also the lead in our new Reproductive Justice zine partnership with 💜

THEE Mickey Mickle presented a poster presentation on her internship with the Black Feminist Rants podcast at Roe Anniversary convening in 2021. Mickey also introduced Loretta Ross, the keynote speaker of the convening.
I am so honored and proud to have been able to work with Mickey and to watch her grow!
Fun fact: I took a freshman Africana course my senior year of college and the first day of class I got a Zoom DM from Mickey asking if I was BFR & we’ve been locked in ever since! 🤞🏾

Sarah also discusses the impact of settler colonialism on reproduction and the importance of doulas operating outside of the capitalistic healthcare system.

Ep 17 featuring is out! I enjoyed learning about Jaaie’s work and being able to relate as young RJ organizers! She’s doing a million different things while being a student & I can’t wait to see all the amazing things she accomplishes!
