I posted this on my personal page and I feel it should be shared here as well. I’ve been silent for far too long and I’ve decided that I just can’t be silent anymore. For those who support Trump this is the outcome. Disabled people don’t need this.

This post is going to be long, but everything here needs to be said. Please read.

It hurts to know that some of my closest friends voted for Trump. You voted to slash Medicaid, threaten Medicare, and eliminate DEI initiatives. You voted against people like me. I am ashamed of you.

Medicaid is my lifeline at home. It helps me with cooking, cleaning, and all activities of daily living—things like showering, brushing my teeth, washing my hair, and making sure my hygiene is taken care of. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to live independently. Right now, I’m trying to double my care hours to 16 hours a day because eight hours a day is no longer enough for me. As I get older, my muscles are getting weaker, and I need more support to maintain my independence. But if these Medicaid cuts happen, I don’t know if I’ll have the budget for it—or if I’ll even have services at all. The uncertainty is terrifying, and I shouldn’t have to live like this.

Medicaid also pays for 20% of my medical bills, while Medicare covers the other 80%. If I were forced to rely on a Medicare supplement, I would have to switch from my current PPO plan to an HMO plan. Right now, I can walk into any doctor that accepts Medicare, and 90% of the time, they will also take my Medicaid as secondary coverage. But if I lose Medicaid and have to rely on a Medicare Advantage plan, my options for medical care would be substantially limited. I would have far fewer choices in doctors and specialists, which could seriously impact my ability to get the care I need.

And those immigrants you want deported? They’re the ones helping to keep food stamps available for those who need them. You’ve chosen to strip away vital programs that keep people alive. I love you, but if people like me are forced into institutions because of the choices you made, I will blame you.

Do you really believe you’re making this country better? Because it sure as hell doesn’t seem that way. It looks like you only care about yourselves while ignoring the most vulnerable among us. Republicans prioritize their own interests while people like me live in constant fear of losing everything. Every single day, I fear for my life because of these unwanted changes. And if I haven’t already, I will never forgive you for failing to understand the gravity of what you’ve done.

And now there’s a plan to mandate work requirements for Medicaid recipients. I’m lucky—I can work a little. But what about people like my beautiful friend Josh, who cannot work at all? This will destroy his life and could force him into a situation where he loses everything. Do you think that’s fair? Do you really believe that what you’ve chosen is fair to at least 50% of Americans?

This is sickening and ridiculous. And I promise you, if the people I love suffer because of what you’ve done, I will hold you accountable.

I’m angry. And I have every right to be.

This isn’t about political sides anymore. This isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats. This is about people’s lives and the drastic changes that are about to be implemented because of people’s informed—or uninformed—choices. Real people are going to suffer because of decisions made by those who either don’t understand the consequences or simply don’t care.

Let’s talk about Social Security. So many people rely on it to survive, including me. It’s how I keep my house afloat. It’s how millions of people pay rent, buy food, and cover basic expenses. And now, DT and his administration are talking about cutting it. People have spent their entire lives working and paying into this system, expecting it to be there when they need it, only to be told that their benefits could be taken away. If Social Security is slashed, what happens to the elderly, the disabled, and the millions of others who depend on it? Do you think they can just “figure it out”? This isn’t a game—this is survival.

The disabled and vulnerable matter just as much as anyone else. And while I’m at it, what about LGBTQ+ people? People who are gay, le***an, trans, q***r, pansexual, and beyond deserve the same respect and love as anyone else. We don’t have to be like them to understand that they still deserve to be treated with dignity and kindness. I have incredible friends from all across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and I love them more than anything. I wouldn’t want them to change for the world.

I saw a video the other day where DT was begging Americans to pick crops because he deported all the immigrants who would gladly do that work. Are you proud of yourselves? Construction sites are at a standstill because immigrant labor has been wiped out. Half of the food on your table and half of the jobs that actually keep this country running? Immigrants do them. Don’t be surprised when grocery prices skyrocket to the point where you can’t afford them.

But hey—these were the choices you made. I hope you’re happy.

And let’s talk about gun safety. DT and his administration have ignored the epidemic of gun violence that’s tearing our schools and communities apart. After every tragic school shooting, instead of implementing meaningful reforms, he suggested arming teachers, turning classrooms into war zones. He has made it easier for dangerous people to obtain fi****ms while blocking any real progress toward keeping students and communities safe.

After the Parkland shooting, when my friend Jaime was killed, my world changed forever. That day shattered everything I believed about safety, and it made so many people realize just how broken our gun laws truly are. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about my friend. There isn’t a day that I don’t wish I could bring her back. All I can hope for is a better world, one where tragedies like this don’t keep happening—where fewer families, fewer communities, and fewer friends have to suffer the same unbearable pain.

How many more children have to die before you realize that your votes are enabling a culture of violence? School shootings shouldn’t be a “fact of life,” but that’s the reality you’ve accepted by supporting leaders who refuse to take action.

I’m furious that your choices contribute to a world where students fear for their lives in a place that should be safe. If you can’t see the blood on your hands, then I don’t know what else to say.

This is the last straw. If you continue to support policies and leaders that endanger the lives of the vulnerable, the marginalized, and the innocent, then I can’t ignore it anymore. I won’t stay silent while you vote for my oppression and the oppression of others.

Wake up. Your decisions have consequences. And those consequences are destroying lives.
