This ambitious project, developed by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation ( ) in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and the Government of India, will further expand the network, linking key locations between and like , , , , , Dholakuva, Infocity and Sector-1. The extension promises not only to boost connectivity between the two cities but also to redefine urban mobility in the region with faster, safer, and more affordable travel options for citizens.

The Prime Minister of India will flag off the second phase of the Metro on 16th September 2024, marking the official commencement of operations. This new phase, stretching from Motera to Gandhinagar’s Sector-1, will connect crucial hubs such as GIFT City, infusing new dynamism into the regional economy by facilitating easy access for professionals, students, and tourists. This phase spans up to 21 kilometres, covering a total of eight new stations initially, providing seamless and efficient transportation services to both residential and commercial areas.

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah dedicated 30 smart schools developed by the School Board of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at an event held in the Naranpura area of the city today.

“I have come to Gujarat for the first time after the 2024 Lok Sabha election, and I am happy about the fact that after becoming MP and Minister again, my first program is for the children of poor and low-income families,” said the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha MP.

Shah added, “Today, after the people elected Narendra Modi as the PM for the third consecutive time and Gujarat again gave us 25 out of 26 seats, I want to thank all the people of Gujarat. It is a matter of pride and happiness for me and the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the people of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha ensured our victory with a huge margin. For that, my party and I will always be indebted to the voters of the Gandhinagar constituency. I will always strive to make Gandhinagar the most developed and prosperous Lok Sabha constituency.”

“Thirty smart schools developed by the Ahmedabad School Board have been inaugurated today. Out of these, nine schools are in Ghatlodia, ten are in Vejalpur, four are in Naranpura, and seven are in the Sabarmati area. With this initiative, 30,000 students will benefit from the new education policy,” he further said.

ensures safety by constructing parapets around 1534 open wells in Protected Area

Gir: Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), in association with the Forest Department of Government of Gujarat, has completed construction of parapets around 1534 open wells in Gir Protected Area. This initiative aims at safeguarding the animals of the wilderness, particularly the Asiatic Lion, the pride of Gujarat and India from injuries and death.

RIL had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Forest Department of Government of Gujarat in June 2021 for construction of parapet walls around open wells in Gir Protected Area. Under the guidance of wildlife lover and Director of Corporate Affairs at RIL, Parimal Nathwani, Reliance has constructed parapet wall around 638 open wells in Savarkundla and Tulsishyam of Gir East Region and 896 parapet walls in Maliya, Talala and Kodinar of Gir West Region.

Wildlife enthusiast and passionate about Gir Lions, Parimal Nathwani, said, “We are closely working with the forest department of Government of Gujarat for protection of wildlife in Gir, especially Asiatic Lion, as we are committed to the conservation of wildlife. This initiative of ours will play a major role in saving Asiatic Lions and other wild animals who lose life or get serious injuries by falling into open wells in and around Gir Protected Area.”

gets latest station; East Metro Station now operational

Ahmedabad: The Kankaria East underground metro station on the east-west corridor connecting and became operational today. This latest Metro station is located between railway station based Metro station and Metro station.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation ( ) Ltd. stated in a press release, “Kankariya East Metro station in the east-west corridor of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project is ready for passenger operation today on 4th March 2024. Metro train services will be available at Kankariya East station for passengers as per existing operational timings effective from 5th March 2024.”

Presently, Metro Train services are operational in Ahmedabad from 6:20 AM to 10:00 PM with flat 12-minute headway between 07:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The Kankaria East station is anticipated to cater to travelers going to Kankaria Lake and is forecasted to witness substantial pedestrian activity during Sundays and holidays. DeshGujarat

pre-wedding celebrations of Anant and Radhika

Gandhinagar: The extra dosed cable stayed bridge across the Narmada Main Canal on the Narendra Modi Stadium to Gandhinagar section of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II is nearing completion, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Ltd annonced today.

The GMRC stated that the cable stayed bridge has a central span of 145 meters and end spans of 79 meters and two pylons of 28.1 meter height. Work of the pylons and 100 segments of the total 105 segments has been completed in record time and bridge work will be completed shortly following which laying of track and installation of third rail etc. will be completed. Train Trials are expected to start in March/April, the offical note further said.  DeshGujarat

Gujarat marked the beginning of the new year by achieving a world record today, securing a place in the Guinness Book of World Records through a display of health and unity. On January 1st, several participants across 108 locations and 51 diverse categories simultaneously performed the ‘Surya Namaskar’ (sun salutation) yoga sequence.

A significant gathering occurred at the renowned Modhera Sun Temple, witnessing active participation from a diverse range of groups, including families, students, yoga enthusiasts, and senior citizens. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi were present at the celebrations in Modhera.

Approximately 15,00,000 people from across the state performed collective Surya Namaskar at 108 places in Gujarat and set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of Surya Namaskars at different places simultaneously.

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, inaugurated the Vibrant Amdavad Flower Show 2024 today. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has been organizing this annual event since 2013. This year the show is set to take place from December 30, 2023, to January 15, 2024, at the Sabarmati Riverfront in the city.

The exhibition will showcase a diverse array of flower varieties, including petunias, dianthuses, chrysanthemums, vincas, gazanias, begonias, anthuriums, asters, impatiens, marigolds, calendulas, coleuses, torenias, salvias, ornamental kales, succulents and cactus plants, orchids, poinsettias, gerbera daisies, dahlias, gerberas, liliums, amaryllises, lilies, and more.

Monday to Friday, the entry fee for individuals aged 12 and above will be Rs. 50, while on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), a fee of Rs. 74 will be charged for those aged 12 and above. School groups will be granted free entry to the flower show.

Tickets for Flower Show 2024 can be purchased at the nearest city civic centre, available at all city civic centers. Additionally, an online ticket booking system is in place.

Prabhas Patan: The Charan Padukas of Bhagwan Shree Ram reached the Somnath Jyotirlinga Dham on Tuesday. These Padukas were honoured by the Somnath Trust through mantra chanting and a shower of flowers.

The Padukas were welcomed by Somnath Trustee JD Parmar, General Manager Vijaysinh Chavda, local dignitaries, and present devotees who welcomed these padukas with Pushpa Varsha and garlanding.

These Padukas, created for Lord Sri Ram, were placed in front of Sri Somnath Jyotirlinga and ritually worshipped by the priest of Sri Somnath Temple.

The Charan Padukas, made of 8 kg of silver covered with gold and intended for offering in the Ram temple, are being taken to various religious places across the country. The Padukas are made of 1 kg gold and 8 kg silver.

Srichal Srinivasa Shastri of Hyderabad crafted these padukas. It is worth mentioning that Srichal Srinivas also circumambulated the temple under construction in Ayodhya for 41 days with these Padukas in his hand. DeshGujarat
