The Fig has so many updates to share but for now here is a picture from Iris’ room with a switch update & a beautiful sign my friend made.
Fig updates;
•The garden is no longer a muddy car park.
•We are finally in the main bedroom!
•The little bedroom is no longer a mix of office/Screwfix & is this pretty room for little Iris.
•The front exterior has been rendered.
•The downstairs toilet in the extension is 99% finished (lol)
•The extension has been great for that extra utility space and was perfect timing once Iris arrived. So many little clothes to wash.

WC update: Toilet, sink, rad are all plumbed in & the wallpaper is up looking FAB! We just need to add the skirting and then do another layer of paint on the panelling.

Happy 2022 - We are feeling good this January with lots to look forward to this year and we have been surprisingly productive on the reno over the festive period.
We colour matched our cabinets and painted this accent wall in the kitchen. It instantly made the room feel more homely & less like a dumping ground. There are still a few things to do in here though, such as trying to find a side table for next to the orange sofa. Everything looks the same🧐

🎄Merry Christmas🎄 The countdown is on until we BOTH finish work for the festive period. I say both which such excitement as I haven’t had time off work at Christmas in years.

I thought I would share this beautiful tree decoration I purchased from the lovely ✨ She didn’t have a Vizsla design and based this on Columbo, capturing his build and his gorgeous eyes!!

She is taking orders for Xmas ‘22 designs if you want to get one of your pup there are many other breeds on her site🧡

Painting the downstairs toilet is mostly complete. Top ups are needed & then the skirting once it’s fitted.

Things have been busy lately with me starting my new job & we have both been wiped out since Thursday evening by an illness which carried all of covid symptoms but thankfully wasn’t & we are feeling much better today!

Here is the current progress of our downstairs toilet. I had wanted to do all of this room myself after tiling the floor but my new job took over and so we have worked together. Excited now to decorate & reveal our colour scheme 😏✨

String of Hearts: August ‘21 - May ‘21.
I have always enjoyed growing flowers, vegetables & maintaining house plants but my indoor plant love has increased rapidly this summer.
I blame it on no longer having a greenhouse to focus on my veggies. Instead we currently have over 30 plants dotted about the house & that isn’t including the plants I’m yet to buy to fill our mini extension once it’s finished😅

Decisions, decisions.
It’s been two years since we renovated the guest room & moved into it. It was the easier option as it needed the least amount of work & we could transfer my furniture from my family home.
The past couple of days we have been moving things out of the main room & fixing it up ready to finish the decorating. We renovated this room, painted it green & then stopped as the kitchen became the priority…and then the lounge. But now, it’s time & I have been ordering wallpaper samples left, right & centre much to Steve’s disappointment 🤣

We painted two fence panels a few weeks back & whenever we have plans to paint the remainder the weather changes🥴

A very unexciting post this morning of our extension progress.🏚
This will be our utility space & you can just make out the downstairs toilet on the right hand side. I cannot wait to start decorating as we have almost made a final decision on colour schemes.

Long time no see.
I took some very much needed time off social media, which started in March & I cut all ties by April. I focused on friendships, family & most importantly myself! Honestly, it has been bliss✌🏻✨
Myself & Steve have missed running this little page and so we are back. So what’s new with us?
We have dug out our renovation clothes which we thought we had seen the back of and currently we have a dust coated house as our extension has taken some big steps! With some small steps backwards as our new boiler had to be moved🤦🏼‍♀️
My friends brought me this gorgeous coconut palm (Colin) for my birthday & today he has had a new pot upgrade.
Columbo has doubled in size and is enjoying puppy school once a week, giving us both a little break as currently I come home every lunch hour to see him.
We spent some time in Cornwall with Steve’s family which was lovely & Columbo very much enjoyed his time on the beach.
I interviewed for a new job in March & I will be starting in September & going back to uni in November🤓
Not much has changed within the house, but we have finally started finishing up the main bedroom so we can eventually have people staying over.
The photo frames in the hallway are still of course empty as predicted…👀

I noticed how bare all of our walls are and decided to make the hallway a little more welcoming... only problem is we haven’t got any printed photos to fill the frames with yet 👀😭
At least it looks a lot better than before!

We have started the process of having a mini extension built.
We can only live so long without a utility and a washing machine 🤣 (Sorry Mary & Elaine)
Also really hard finding before photos of the garage, so ugly I barely took any of it!

Today was my day off work, as I worked last weekend. I had lots planned & instead it’s been a strange old day.
From Columbo having a real grumpy day teething, refusing to eat, non-stop barking and being a general shi*, to me smashing my foot on the kitchen island (still can’t walk properly) and Steve has been a shivering sleepy mess on the sofa unwell.
I did however make a banging spaghetti bolognese from yet another Jamie Oliver recipe.🙈

Happy Sunday ✌🏻
It’s my last day off before returning to work properly tomorrow after my AL. (Despite being on-call last night, I wasn’t called in! YAASS🙌🏻) So, today we are spending it together doing jobs around the house, walking Columbo & I plan on making my first vegan lasagne this evening. Wish me luck👩🏼‍🍳

I’m in a completely different mind set this morning, relaxed and slow to just enjoy time doing NOTHING! But, I have managed to get out of my jimmies & feed myself so that’s something😅

I feel like we are the slowest renovators around & this guest room is proof. We were only supposed to be sleeping in here until our main bedroom was finished... 😬🤷🏼‍♀️

I spent what feels like all day deep cleaning the kitchen & I realised how much we have accomplished.
This time last year we didn’t have a kitchen. We had somehow muddled by without one for 18months & by some form of a miracle we had finishing fitting our units ourselves, scheduled our granite fitting & gas being connected one week before the first lockdown!
This was then tough as we had no ingredients & everything was sold out, but we managed to have some lovely evenings in here together with a beer👍🏻

I am more thankful each day for having Columbo in my life. Walking outside with him each day surrounded by nature is a luxury.
He will surely be helping me next week as yet again I have booked annual leave from covid at work & a lockdown lands on it🤦🏼‍♀️
Prepare for lots of boring posts of me cleaning, eating & walking Col.
